Description
I have returned! I sincerely hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving (for those that celebrate it anyway), so before we all explode and splatter our food-filled guts across the walls and floors, I bring you another entry in the steadily growing list of my alien catalog! Now Derrick J. Wyatt is notorious for throwing out the names of fake Ben 10 aliens among the reals ones to throw nosy fans of the show off the trail so that the eventual debut will be more of a surprise than a somewhat cheap thriller (think of it like that one guy that spoils the movie you were waiting to see all week). Some fans have taken these names and made actual aliens out of them and, with the assistance and at the request of the aforementioned , I have done the same.
Onto the facts!
Name: The Sledge
Species: Nar Ti
Homeworld: Rae Hekil
Powers/abilities: The Sledge can generate patches of ice through touch, allowing him to freeze objects and opponents through simple contact and encase them in a layer of ice for restriction of movements and other purposes.
The odd, ski-like structures on Nar Ti feet are actually highly developed talons that have evolved over millions of years to allow them to slide and skate across slippery surfaces. When combined with their cyro-contact capabilities, this let them easily cover incredibly long distances without ever tiring out, allowing them to chase enemies and exhaust them to the point of easy capture.
The long claws on the end of each of The Sledge's hands act like ski poles and let them gain traction during their long "ski trips". Their arms move in a circular, gear-like, one over the other motion that lets them do this for hours on end without getting tired. These claws can also be used as weapons and are durable enough to tear through most types of metals with relative ease.
The three fins on the Nar Ti's head let them speak telepathically with one another through gamma rays, thanks to bioelectrical generatoring cells in their brains. This suggests that the Nar Ti have a somewhat more advanced intelligence as well, though they lack anything resembling mouths at all to vocalize this.
Nar Ti have good night vision thanks to their large eyes and the fact that Rae Hekil is almost always ina state of perpetual darkness.
The spots on a Nar Ti's body are bioluminescent in nature, allowing them to spot and communicate with one another over long distances that exceed their telepathic range.
The Sledge can survive in any type of sub-zero environment.
Weaknesses: The Sledge's specialized hands make it difficult for him to manipulate objects that require extra dexterity, such as phones, control panels, steering mechanisms, and door knobs and handles.
The Sledge relies entirely on his ice-generating abilities to move around. Walking is very awkward and very slow for him, thus making him an easier target to hit in the middle of fights if he is hindered in any way.
Nar Ti lack mouths entirely, as they have little to no need for them in the first place since they do most of their communicating with their minds. This actually makes it very difficult for them to communicate with species whose cells are vulnerable to gamma radiation, such as humans, which makes it difficult for them to communicate with allies.
Nar Ti don't do well in heat of any kind and cannot be in temperatures over 60 degrees, lest they become horribly sick.
The Sledge's skin is highly conduct, which allows his species to communicate with one another. This also unfortunately means that he's highly vulnerable to powerful charges of electricity.
Trivia: The species name comes from "narty", which is the Polish word for "ski".
The Nar Ti homeworld comes from the "ray hkell", the Burmese word for "ice".
The Sledge shares some similarities to the description of the Venber from the Animorphs series.
The Sledge has an unexplainable, yet unmistakable odor to him that smells strongly of fish.
Because they lack mouths and communicate through gamma rays, Nar Ti "eat" by absorbing the nutrients in the ice of their homeworld through their skin. They speak with other alien species whose cells are easily damaged by gamma radiation through a series of taps and clicks of their claws similar to that of Morse code while their bioluminescence helps convey emotion or emphasis to the conversation at hand.
The Nar Ti are hermaphrodites, meaning they have both male and female reproductive organs. They often form breeding pairs on their homeworld where either partner behaves as the male or female over a brood of offspring.
Rae Hekil - the Nar Ti homeworld - is a frozen wasteland upon which ones breath has been known to freeze solid while still inside their lungs, requiring most alien species to wear protective gear when they visit the planet-wide tundra. Beneath the layers of ice created by generation upon generation of Nar Ti are vast oceans home to extraterrestrial aquatic life that the Nar Ti often harvest - using their incredible long and sharp claws like spears to both fish and cut holes in the ice - for offworld export. The Nar Ti are a nomadic species and never stay in one place for too long, lest the nutrients in the permafrost of their homeworld run out in a particular area.

What would an Ultimate version of this form look like?

Badass design! A freaky, mouthless, four-armed skier with gamma rays. Would his ultimate form be able to do anything else with the gamma rays?

They'd probably be able to shoot a concentrated beam from their head/eyes and then be able to magnify it with through their ice, like how you might use a magnifying glass to start a fire.

Cool! Anything else? Maybe a gamma laser, for example?

I mean, that's kinda what I just said, so . . .

I meant a laser like Upgrade’s laser, not just a smaller, more concentrated one for starting fires.

That's still the same thing. It's not like they need the ice to amplify the beam, it just one of those 'why wouldn't you?' things.

I know that this one's been out for a while now, but I never really got around to looking at him simply because the name, unlike a lot of DJW's fake alien names, is just generic, rather than outlandish and crazy, and doesn't allow for much variety when it comes to what alien it would be like (sentient, cold-proof wood is the best thing I can think of at the moment). However, after giving it a look I must say that this is one of the most unique, fascinating aliens you've done so far! Everything from the skis being specialized talons to their method of telepathic communication practically screams creativity, and I absolutely love it.

Thanks! I'll admit, when I was asked to do this one. I was a little skeptical for the same reasons you were.
The person who requested me to do it even had a predetermined appearance, too, which was like something out of Lilo and Stitch the series. If you've never watched the series, some of the experiments on there are literally living appliances (because Jumbaa was too lazy to pop popcorn or wash his socks and decided creating a genetic experiment to do it for him was the easy route).
The Sledge literally originally looked like a sled with a face and arms, I kid you not.
Then I remembered the Animorphs series I use to read, specifically about an alien species called the Venber whose feet were similar to skis.
As you can guess, the rest just clicked!

You're welcome.
I saw bits of the Lilo and Stitch Series as a kid, as well as the movie finale. It was fun, but honestly I kinda side with Doug Walker when it comes to the franchise; that being that the sister dynamic is far more interesting than the alien stuff. Still, it was fun and harmless enough, and I remember liking a lot of the designs in that show.
... (I genuinely don't know what to say to that)
I've heard about the Animorphs series before, though I've never gotten around to checking it out.

I was a little more of the opposite. While I liked the sister dynamic, I liked the experiments a lot more. The idea that there were all these little creatures running around with various powers coming in a variety of shapes and sizes just appealed to me a lot more (and probably got me unwittingly started on Ben 10). Even so, I gotta give props to Lilo and Stitch for somehow making Hawaii and aliens actually work, practically flawlessly even.
As for Animorphs, I would highly recommend reading the series when you have the chance. It might be a aimed at a slightly younger audience and is a little outdated (the characters still refer to McDonalds as "Mickey Dees"), but the general universe that K.A. Applegate managed to create is absolutely astounding. Plus, she managed to write about the first and last and only great battle involving oatmeal (I kid you not. As strange as it sounds, it's pretty entertaining).

Eh, different strokes for different blokes. I do like the alien stuff, and find the originality of a few of the aliens to be admirable, but the story of the two sisters is just more appealing to me. Either way, the fact that we are able to debate about which great plot concept was handled better at all is a miracle, considering the time the film was released (I don't think anyone's going to debate about the plot threads in Chicken Little or Home on the Range...).
...That sounds like an interesting battle. I'll probably look into it around Christmas.

True, but I think we can all agree that the relationship between Lilo and Stitch was the best (that, and Stitch is as cute and fluffy as he is dangerous and mischievous).
I know it sounds strange, but once you read it actually (kinda) makes since. I mean, I know we're talking about oatmeal here, but there is a logical reason behind it. Either way, the book that features said battle is #17 with a cover featuring Rachel (one of the main characters) turning into a bat (all of the covers show which character the POV is being told from and one of the morphs that they turn into in that book).

Agreed on both points.
Again, I'll more than likely end up getting the series around Christmas. Weirdness is very appealing to me, and I was hooked on the concept as soon as I heard "Oatmeal Battle".

Wheel Bug sounds like a fantastic alien (with some slight modifications) and Logical could use a little reworking (nothing I can't fix). Moosehead however is, well . . . a tad too ridiculous. His powers are interesting, especially since I doubt they have been done by a lot of OC aliens, but his appearance - "a ghostly, flying moose head" - is just beyond bizarre. Maybe instead his appearance and species might be based on necromancers whose race is obsessed with beating death through various forms of magic that eventually evolved into natural abilities?

Cool! I like it! It also tells me you based it of another alien particularly one from the animorph series.

It was either that or literally stick a pair of arms and a head on a toboggan. XD
But in all seriousness, Animorphs was an awesome book series back when I was a kid and it still is. All the aliens were original and awesome looking (depending on how vivid your imagination is or the visual artist you found) and the stories were both intense and humorous at times (such as the ending where Rachel is killed and the time when they broke into a military base to recover alien technology only to find it was the equivalent of an Andalite toilet, respectively). I only wish they made a better TV series out of it (it should have been animated instead of live-action).
Speaking of Animorphs, there are rumors that there might be a movie coming out based on the book series, but nothing serious has been proclaimed or discovered yet.
