LAST UPDATED: 22-Feb-2014The long awaited super secret customization tutorial is here today!
Lot of deviants have asked me for this tutorial and so here you go. I have kept it a secret for a long time now and finally releasing it to public. Not to deny that some of them did figure this out on their own and successfully customized their own profile widgets. Kudos to those who did!

I've been saving the journal into personal, and it's been working out fine.

It seems the moment I turned on the skin I lost the choice of literature so when I just loaded up a blank one, no skin and then go in to edit it, I can add the skin to it then and it worked. An extra step, annoying but better than not at all.

Yes by tricking the system. xD I go all the steps but not adding the skin so that I can get access to select the literature place. Once I get that and have it saved I go back in to edit adding the skin. I currently have it set on my page actually. ^^ But now I am in the process on working on another one because I think for this directory it might be best to just use button/links and no previews so I can get more links in. But then I had this idea of wanting to perhaps have a fancier hover-over if I can figure it out lol.
Ah rambling sorry, but yes I did. Just.. a bit complicated and annoying to do so glad I don't do these often. xD

Well, I was not able to search my journal many times when I submitted it as personal. I don't know there may be an issue on my page or widget while searching in the featured widget. But now when I tried it seems to work just fine. 
May be I'll update the tutorial.

I followed your tutorial, but did not work for me, I can't get my journal into the "Featured Deviation" button, even tho I have my journal at "Journals / Art News / Customization ".

Sometimes it takes little time for your journal to show up in the widget. (weird I know)

Thank you so much for this! I'm trying to do something where I can navigate around my page easily, but my Navigation journal isn't positioned the right way; there is an extra space between the left of the journal and the top, pushing it down and right. Then, my ids all turn into "" clogged numbers. I don't know what to do!

Positioning the journal could take a little while in the widget. And span tags, font tags, etc. are getting messed up in DA nowadays after the introduction of the new sta.sh like writer. It messes up all my codes sometimes.
