Ah well, it's easier to get colour's from what kind of scene you are doing, here are a few eg's of different colours using the grass tutorial:

If in doubt, google the scene your trying to achieve, have a look at others artworks to get inspiration, don't be afraid to add flowers, different lengths of grass, mud, rocks, different plants etc, these all give it a bit more life

I'm still stuck on step 3, I got the brush but I don't have the result you show.
So my question is: in which mode do I use the brush? Rubber,paintbrush or the water? Sorry I have it in french so I don't know the english term.

Oh I use it as a smudge tool on about 70% strength

I've already tried looking for that, but I can't find an actual version (which is how I ended up with gimp. It's nice, but nobody ever makes anything cool for it, so I would like photoshop, where all the cool stuff is. XD).
