Okay, I'm going back now to continue Maladyne's story arc in Web of Betrayal.
The previous page is this one:

The next page is here:
***********************************************
Maladyne's last thought beyond the mirror is of the irony that her Dustmaiden heritage forms the basis of her understanding of the whole process: ice to stream, stream to lake, and lake to the clouds that become the “floor” of a celestial vista in her thoughts. Her mind embraces the Guardian’s venom and manifests its power for her use. Her self stands in it, gazing up as if the tower and its Guardian were still above her, her hand lowering as if dropping away from the mirror’s surface.
She is robed now, and she recognizes the imagined vestment is a symbol of this sorcerous congress. It is a shield of sorts, where none is necessary, to remind the visitor that what is bared in this "place" is not flesh. Physical details are present, but intent is more recognizable, decorating all with the essence of personality and intellect. All those whose voices have been joined in the Guardian’s venom are clothed likewise, though the feeling of soft cloth is absent--all physical sensations are little more than the brush of cloud vapor on the self’s “skin.”
For a brief moment she fears that she is alone in this place of mind, and that fear sends ripples through the cloudscape. Vapor roils up on the horizon, too far for Maladyne to see clearly, but inviting in the silence. She takes a step forward, smiling at the paradox of sensation in her bare feet on soft vapor and her legs moving beneath a covering that conceals nothing.

This page continues Maladyne's second-to-last scene in the chapter.
As always, Maladyne was drawn using the wonderful reference material provided by minokura . Thanks!
I hope people are weathering the current situation well, and that those who are suffering can get the help they need. Again, I'd like to encourage everyone to be a bit more understanding and tolerant than ever, and I mean myself as well, in viewpoints and communications.
Enjoy!
Note: Web of Betrayal and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones real mistreatment of this kind toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

By the way, Jeff, this is at least two times you've placed one of your damsels in a Beatific Pose.
There's the above, "Modest Mallie"...
...and "St. Velmalina of the Jackrats"...
.
You should do one of Avora, then she'd have no excuse to whine and pout whenever I mention her Bikini-Nun costume.

Yeah, I think you've hit on something with that observation, and it all started with this one:

However, I'm not sure Avora is set up for a Beatific Pose, at least not in that traditional stripe. I think her place in it is going to be exactly opposite in perspective, exemplified by this teaser image that is just around the corner...
Kind of a Malefic Pose, I'd think.

And I plum forgot about St. Collared the Sky-Clad. She is being rather nakedly beatific in that pose.
...either that or she's beaming back to the Enterprise on Casual Friday.

Oh, so Avora is an Evil Bikini-Nun. You should have given her a ruler instead of a wand.

Van: "Sweet Gwendoline! Poor Mallie is shrouded in some sort of woven, uh, shroud! And its fiendishly and no doubt deceptively loose and unrestrictive! Obviously, the fiendish thing is designed to allow Mallie a tantalizing modicum of hope that she might free herself and escape its cruel embrace as she struggles, twists, and writhes! And all the while, she remains totally helpless and her luscious, magic-mirror-worthy body is almost completely covered in a most obscuring manner! What monster could have come up with such an evil device?"
Jeff: "That would be me, dipstick. It's called 'clothing.'"
Van: "Oh. … Oh. … Never mind."
Jeff [sighing & shaking head]: "What a macaroon."

Yeah. I confess that with respect to beautiful women, my clothing aesthetic is somewhat Gorean. {"OFF WITH THEIR CLOTHING!!")
