Description
October 6, 2008: I've modified the script to run in GIMP 2.6 (the newest stable version). It should work in 2.4, as well.Let me know if you have any trouble with it.
This simple script is more of a gimic than anything, but it's still fun! It creates an rain-like animation from a single image, just like the one in the preview above. It is based on this tutorial: fence-post.deviantart.com/art/…
This script will not run in GIMP version 2.2. If you would like that script, follow this link: (fence-post.deviantart.com/art/… .
Although scripts of this nature are fun, I suggest taking a look at the tutorial as it's good to know how to accomplish the steps without the script.
Just click on the download link to open the script in your browser window and then save it (File Menu > Save) in your GIMP scripts folder (ie....C
Then, go to the main GIMP window (not the image window) and choose the Xtns Menu > Script-FU > Refresh Scripts and it should appear in the Image Window under the Filters Menu > Animation > Rain...
You set the number of frames the animation will have, how much rain, the blur of the rain, the angle at which it falls, and the speed of the animation. You can also add a border of the chosen color and size (up to 3 pixels wide).
Enjoy!

I scaned an Image useing gimp 2.6 AND I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO SUBMIT IT TO DEVIANTART
I'm a new artist and i asked my sister-(long time deviant) how to get the image but she said deviantart just doesn't like gimp and it wasn't going to work. (
so now i'm sad and i don't have paint it (not sure why not) so i downloaded Gimp 2.6 but if i can't figure it out i'm now sure how i'll get my art on deviantart
If you could PLEASE tell me if there's anything special i need to do that would be Greatly apprciated , and if not that's ok too... ...
Something about a separate preview image and we can't figure out how to change the size
sorr if i'm asking you this and you don't know the answer.

This script isn't working for some odd reason. I've added it to the script folder and have refreshed scripts, I've even closed and reopened Gimp and still the plugin won't appear anywhere in the filter's list nor the script-fu. I've been using Gimp for quite some time so I'm certain it's not anything I've done or not done.
Any reason this would happen?

May I please ask for assistince on how to use this in my gimp program? For some strange reason whenever I try and save it it, I can't run it because it cumes up as a SCD format or something like that. I tried the Refresh script thing, but it still didn't show up. I can't seem to use any zip format and it's really annoying. Please reply, this is really frustraiting.

WOW!
I thought your tutorials were amazing and made life easy......
now a script for animated rain!?!?!?
Love it,
one thing tho -
rain seems to come out a little darker than when I do it step by step.
is that the layer blending method used?
would use this all the time if I could choose lighter or darker rain~

Thanks for kind words and the feedback! I'll take another look at the script and see if I did something different from the tutorial. That was my first animation script and had NO IDEA what I was doing, so it's quite possible there's a difference. Now that I know what I'm doing I can modify it at will. So, I'll go ahead and clean up the code and add in the options to alter the blend modes/opacity. It'll be a little while because of limited free time, but not too long.
Cheers!

Hey Fencepost,
I've been trying to get lots of scripts onto gimp, but whenever they are text files like this one, I can't seem to get it to work. I followed your instructions, but it doesn't show up in GIMP even after I refresh the scripts and restart GIMP. Help plz?
