Description I couldn't find a tutorial on how to do convincing bubbles with proper reflections ... so I thought I should share how I did mine

I have shown two ways to make a bubble reflection ... the part in green is for PS 3 and lower

Here's what I made:

The bubble brush I used in the tutorial is this one (the first bubble in the set): [link] ~elestrial

This tutorial was painstakingly and lovingly made by me! You do not have permission to post it on other websites without my permission ... you are however free to use the "share" buttons to pin and tweet and stuff this tut.

Please feel free to browse my stock account

EDIT 01:
The 3D menu is only available on Photoshop CS4 Extended edition (and above?) ... so I added another method to make up for that. Now you have 3 methods to create the start of the reflection: 3D Sphere (blue); Liquify: Bloat (green) and Warp (purple).

pretty awesome!
looks like it's not too much of a hassle to make bubbles.

and bubble brushes? shows how oblivious I am. never even thought to look for something like that.

in any case, this is something I'll definitely try, once I decide to dabble in manipulations again.
thanks for sharing.

It's a lot of work for a few bubbles ... but I like the extra effect it adds, sorta gives it a tad more reality

there are brushes on dA for virtually anything and everything (people, phoneboxes, London, flowers, animals, blood splatter, coffee rings ... the list is endless )

Your crocheting is AWESOME! ... I love :The Crocheted: !!!

What photoshop are you using? I only have CS4 so there is no 3D drop down menu. Would love to do this tut but since I don't have option on mine... :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FireFlyExposed In reply to valerianlegion [2013-01-26 06:13:34 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh ... yeah. 3D seems to be PS4 extended edition. I didn't know that until this morning.
Try the liquify option ... the part in green. It's really easy ... just play with the bloat tool until you get the right bloat.
I'm actually going to update the tutorial with the warp tool as well. Very easy!

I updated it with the warp tool
Maybe you can give that a try if you don't like the bloat method

I haven't had a new computer since 2006. I've been running on hand me down computers. My laptop is an IBM Thinkpad t30 model (which I think is almost a decade old now) and blue screens almost daily. It's also only got 1GB of ram and about 35GB of hard drive space. My PC that I got in 2006 finally crapped out and won't run for more than a few hours at a time before shutting itself off and rebooting. My dad is fixing it but he's not very consistent so I'm not sure when I'll get it back. It only had 2GBs of RAM and runs Windows XP but it still ran what I needed it to. games, Photoshop, etc.

The PC I use now is worse than anything I've ever had the misfortune of owning. It has 1GB of RAM and runs windows Vista which is the worst operating system on the planet. It would never be able to handle running photoshop on it. It's also pushing towards being about 7 years old. I just don't have the money to buy a new PC or to pay for someone to fix my old PC that I feel really just needed part upgrades. D:

OMG sounds awful

I got my computer and laptop in 2006 as well ... both had Vista but I got a computer whiz friend to take it off and replace it with XP.
Both my laptop and my Desktop were recommended buys (my friend told me exactly what to get) ... it was fairly pricey but it's lasted me and still going strong (with the odd exception of having to replace a fan or card or minor fix)

Have you thought about trying eBay? They sell some cheap stuff ... second hand isn't always bad ... I know a guy who replaces his laptop once a year because he likes to keep up to date with the best technology and sells his old laptop. [link] <<< have a look, you might find something.

DeathInTheReaper In reply to FireFlyExposed [2013-01-25 09:15:41 +0000 UTC]

The only reason I never looked into buying a new computer or laptop is because I don't have the money, even for a second hand one. I am living paycheck to paycheck with over $30k in debt from a failed attempt at getting through college. I have so many bills to pay I can't even think twice about getting a new computer. ): It's upsetting that my only hope is waiting on my old PC to be fixed. It was a custom built PC and was a powerhouse back then. But the shop we bought it through did a shoddy job and when it was under warranty I went through 3 motherboards, several hard drives, and I think even a video or graphics or even sound card. I am hoping to save up some money by next year around Christmas to try and afford a new one. It's just super hard. ):

sorry to hear, $30k debt is pretty steep ... with your commissions going you could get your name out there. Have you tried selling your art on Premium Content?

I've actually been trying very hard to focus on working on jewelry making. I have an Etsy shop but it's a lot of work and nowhere near where I want to be with it yet. I will be doing my first craft show in March though so I am hoping it helps me out financially!

And with my commissions I had a very long absence from DA and I am working hard to get back into drawing again. I am going to be uploading my gallery with a slew of jewelry that I've made since my absence here so I'm hoping I can generate some sales here with that.

Once I get my page settled I plan to more actively promote myself for drawn commissions again. I don't really get many nibbles though when I do promote myself. I'm hoping I can get a better turn around this time. A good friend of mine has been a huge inspiration for me so I've been working with her to get myself into working on daily to-do lists this year so that I can make sure I'm continuously drawing unlike what happened last year.

OH! Maybe have a chat with ~GemDeDude ... she mostly does polymer clay ... but maybe she can help you on the business side of things. I dunno ... she's seriously friendly and helpful.
She has a FB page too: [link]

What a lot of people do is show their jewelry on dA and link it to their Etsy account. It gets better exposure
