Description
An Illustration class assignment: produce an illustration to accompany the lyrics to a song of your choosing. The song I chose was "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance. the professor told the class to pick a song that would inspire them, and at first she said my choice of song was "uninspired". I'm not really sure how she's going to like this one considering it contains no allegories to love, references to nature, or visual metaphors.Watercolour on Crescent 310 Cold Press Illustration Board. Original appx. 8" x 10".

Looks cool, all the colors appear to be nice and even. I like that it's actual watercolor and not digital like most people seem to do these days.

Wonderful stuff - it's like a representation of how you might feel as a youngster reading a fantasy novel full of goblins and ogres and things. The colouring actually gives it the air of a splendidly old-school book illustration, which is entirely fitting, and the look on the face of the reader is extremely grin-worthy. Love it!
One thing puzzles me, though - how can a choice of song for a project such as this be, in itself, "uninspired"? Surely the challenge here was to draw inspiration from whatever song you felt like, not pick a tune that your teacher would consider "inspirational" in its own right? (And who's to say what's inspirational anyway? It's an entirely subjective judgement - in the right circumstances a piece of fluff might inspire someone. Just ask Douglas Adams.) Silly professor person.

I got an A-... my professor accused me of "plagarism" off of Maurice Sendak's famous book "Where The Wild Things Are".

I like how the colors are dark, yet bright at the same time. You could always say that the monsters are visual metaphors for fear or something like that. The style looks like it could be an illustration in a book . Great job!

Sweet pic!
There's something about watercolours that's impossible to replicate digitally.
Very nice colours...
Well done!

did you use watercolor?
I love the colors and the angle of the drawing.
Like a lot of people probably tell you, it does look like something out of a children's book XD
