Description Charcoal on medium cartridge paper.

It's been ages since I did anything with just charcoal, and the texture of this paper is so delicious I couldn't resist having a play. Messy but satisfying.

The title is from Serenity: "Please God, make me a stone."

I LUV that movie. Have you seen the bloopers? You must.
"All right, wrap these bodies up and let's go."
"We ain't got time fo rgrave diggin?"
"...want five, six of this tied to the hull of the ship."
"What're you, insane?"
"Kaylie! Find that kid takin' the dirt nap with the baby Jesus, we need a hood ornament. Jayne! tRY NOT TO STEALL TOO MUCH OF THEIR SHIT!"
I lolled so hard I thought I would die.

Wellz, you can see them here: [link]

And heres you may observe bloopers from firefly: [link]
It's kinda hard to hear on both of them, so I'll just tell you:
When Simon runs out of the shop place and stops, he says "A fly ran into my nose."
You need help deciphering anything else, lemme know. I got pretty much all of it figgered out.

i like the way the is sense of flow from the back of the body into the hair almost like a river coming down a mountain into the plains and diverging its flow

Nice texture from the cartridge paper and very good light and shadow. Weird lighting on the ankle though - or maybe it's part of the foot? It's a dark, print calibrated monitor, I could be missing something...
I especially like the emotive grasping hand which gives life to the piece - serenity this isn't. - Excellent, thanks for sharing.

Folded feet very tricky with charcoal, the anklebone is just catching the light and there's some reflected light on the tendon. That is the part of the pic I'm least satisfied with. You've got a good eye!

Yes, the clutch is key! Thanks for commenting!

I might have a good eye but frankly not good fingers I'm always jealous of your superior skill and dedication.

I've never got the hang of leaving white space for reflections, it always ends up the wrong shape and chalk & charcoal just ends up a smudgy mess! Time to get them out again and play perhaps...

I cheated. I used gravity. (Turned the paper upside down to shake off the loose dust).

And yes you should! Playing is good!

I've only ever had the privilege of working with charcoal once. And I must say, it certainly didn't come out this well.

Prrrr! Thank you! I admit doing the black background was my favourite part - can't go wrong there!
