Description
UPD2: Guys, I really am chuffed that so many people found this tutorial helpful. It came as a total surprise when DA gave me a Daily Deviation for it, and that it has accumulated 55K views. I am surprised and honoured.However, I think that this tut is now terribly outdated. Hardly anyone uses ImageReady anymore. In this day and age, you can make an animated GIF directly in CS5, online - even in Powerpoint, whatever rocks your boat. If I had time, I could make a CS5 stamp tutorial or something - however, there are some awesome tutorials for that already, so why reinvent the wheel?
I haven't got time to reply to all the comments I get for this deviation, or respond to all the faves - so comments are disabled for now, sorry!
Last but not the least: this tutorial is far from perfect. I don't make stamps anymore. I am a published manga artist, I draw manga and illustrations and do workshops (and have been doing so since 2004, would you believe!). I really am somewhat disappointed that this tutorial got noticed and recognised more than any work that I put my heart and soul into.
So thank you for your interest - and please check out other art in my DA gallery, or on my website www.irinarichards.com.
Thanks! Peace and love all around ^^

This tut is for Photoshop 7, but yes, you can do it with any version - in later versions it's even easier, you just create 3 layers with a different picture on each, then go to Save for Web and tick the "animate" box, choose the speed and voila!

I've got GIMP instead of ps, but from what I already know of GIMP, it seems mostly the same. I'll see what I can figure out.

irinarichards In reply to o0OInuyashaO0o [2010-05-23 11:02:58 +0000 UTC]
You mean ImageReady? As far as I know you can't download it separately. It comes with older versions of Photoshop. In the newer versions, the animation options are built-in.
Sorry - looks like I can't help you with this one ;_;
Btw, if you haven't got any programmes that do animation, you can always create GIFs online on sites like Gickr: [link]

I have a saved .fla file of a stamp aniamtion, and I don't own photoshop. Is there a different way?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
irinarichards In reply to Toejones [2010-04-18 11:36:11 +0000 UTC]
If the animation is all finished (in Flash I presume) and is the right size for a stamp, then DA should allow you to post it here in DA Related => Stamps. Otherwise you'll have to post it here as a Flash movie I guess.

You're welcome - what version of Photoshop are you using? Some versions have built-in animation features. Like in Photoshop Elements for example, when you do Save For Web, there's an Animation option.

irinarichards In reply to secretlens [2010-04-04 22:08:40 +0000 UTC]
In PS Elements, it's even easier. You make a file with each slide on a different layer, go to Save for Web and choose .gif and tick the Animate option, then you can choose the speed etc. That's how I did it in Elements anyway ^^
