Description UPD2: Guys, I really am chuffed that so many people found this tutorial helpful. It came as a total surprise when DA gave me a Daily Deviation for it, and that it has accumulated 55K views. I am surprised and honoured.
However, I think that this tut is now terribly outdated. Hardly anyone uses ImageReady anymore. In this day and age, you can make an animated GIF directly in CS5, online - even in Powerpoint, whatever rocks your boat. If I had time, I could make a CS5 stamp tutorial or something - however, there are some awesome tutorials for that already, so why reinvent the wheel?
I haven't got time to reply to all the comments I get for this deviation, or respond to all the faves - so comments are disabled for now, sorry!
Last but not the least: this tutorial is far from perfect. I don't make stamps anymore. I am a published manga artist, I draw manga and illustrations and do workshops (and have been doing so since 2004, would you believe!). I really am somewhat disappointed that this tutorial got noticed and recognised more than any work that I put my heart and soul into.
So thank you for your interest - and please check out other art in my DA gallery, or on my website www.irinarichards.com.

Thanks! Peace and love all around ^^

What do you need to save it as to put it on d.a?
I have it as a gif... but it won't let me upload without a preview D:

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

irinarichards In reply to howsyourtrousers [2009-09-12 22:19:12 +0000 UTC]

You did the right thing by saving it as animated gif. Just upload any .jpg file (it could be one of the slides from your stamp!) to act as preview, and you should be fine!

problem, on step 6, when i paste the second slide into the second frame of the first, it pastes into the 1st frame too!!!!!!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

irinarichards In reply to ilfantasista27 [2009-09-07 15:11:37 +0000 UTC]

[link] - you need to have the "Create Layer for each new frame" option ticked. Hope that helps!

I'm stuck on Step 5. It says "Select - Select Fill and Edit etc." I go to the select toolbar thingy and it doesn't say fill and edit. Please help hehe.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

irinarichards In reply to MangoMash [2009-08-29 21:46:04 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, that says "Select All", not "Select Fill", stupid font ^^''''
so the steps are:
go to Select => Select All
go to Edit => Copy

MangoMash In reply to irinarichards [2009-08-30 02:05:09 +0000 UTC]

If I only had ImageReady...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

irinarichards In reply to bleachhime [2009-08-27 09:49:23 +0000 UTC]

all versions of Photoshop (up to CS2 as far as I know) come with ImageReady included ^^
But if you haven't got PS, there are online services where you can make animated avatars for free. You can use them to make stamps, too. For example, [link]

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

irinarichards In reply to yon-daime [2009-08-26 20:40:48 +0000 UTC]

It is 7.0 in the tutorial, but I think it would work on all versions up to CS2 (won't work on CS3 as far as I know!)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

irinarichards In reply to Reagan700 [2009-08-26 18:33:54 +0000 UTC]

[link] - download it, then open it in Photoshop. Go to Image => Mode => change from Indexed Colour to RGB. Then Save As (or Save for Web) => choose JPG. Should work!

Thnx so much for this tutorial!
but i'm having a lot of trouble with step 9.
I can't save my stamp i cant find the Optimize Options. I have PS CS3.
Can you help me with this problem please?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

irinarichards In reply to KuramaPhoenix [2009-08-19 12:41:35 +0000 UTC]

I don't know PS CS3 that well, however, I know there's no ImageReady included in it. I have CS2 and to save animations there, I go to Save for Web => choose .gif in options. Is it similar to CS3?

Can you make an animated stamp without Photoshop or the other?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

irinarichards In reply to Gothfan1 [2009-06-13 09:41:46 +0000 UTC]

Yes you certainly can! There are lots of websites where you can make animated GIFs online by uploading your slides and putting them together. One I know works well is [link] - it was set up mostly for making avatars but you can make stamps there too. Hope it helps ^^
