This tutorial is a little too hard to follow. You should be a bit more clear on the instructions.
~My final result did not look as pretty .__.

looking at this i can see where it would be a bit confusing. i did this from a request. it does assume that the reader knows gimp pretty well.
please let me know were you are having problems and i will try to help.

On from the 5th step it gets a bit choppy. But no worries, I managed to get a good result with this effect. Problem was that I was using a real person, therefore the effects look different.

Awesome tutorial! But~ I am not getting the same result. I am using a picture of a real person. I am going to try it out again with the picture you used to see if it turns out the same.

I finally worked it out. Using softlight gets the look you have in the tut. I tried screen but it does not work. The problem was that when I was trying to get the rainbow layer I used screen and basically it covered all the black. So I experimented with the modes and found softlight works best.

right, no tutorial can address every scenario. sometimes it take experimentation. I'm glad you worked it out and didn't give up.

I retryed it and same result. So I just messed with the modes of the colorful layer and found out the Dodge works awesomely well and has the result as yours. Now I am off to do the path thing
Thanks for making the tutorial
