Description
Oil on canvas, 120 cm X 90cm. Aprox. 100 hours.Portrait of Karen, this was going to be my entry in the trad art day contest, but I just didn't get it finished in time try as I might.
The blue took me FOREVER. ugh.
Photo a bit grainy, but you get that I guess.
Will put a WIP slideshow up at some point, wee bit tired right now.
Much love and thanks to sbaraci and stigmatattoo
Also to Karen for modeling, inspiration, putting up with my bitching about painting blue for 2 weeks, and feeding and watering me during the project.
Oh and also for being by my side through the good and bads

Traditional painting methods, oil paint on canvas.
took me a month from start to finish, with about 4 days off and a couple of half days in there as well.

So sumptuous. I love it!
She doesn't look frail to me at all, she looks supple and solid and luxuriant.
Amazing work.

Yes I have to agree there, much as I love Sandra, she has a slightly different view of my work then I do.
But I guess all emotional imact in art comes from the viewer..so I just have accept that

Yep. I actually like it when people make up their own stories about my art-as long as I don't have to agree with them.

Fabulous. What I like to see is something in the piece that shows it's a painting.

Fantastic. All that blue pain was well worth it.. you have these subtle details for a fairly simple piece and it makes it a great work of art. The wrinkles of the foot I love. The fabric is so real in weight and movement.
Fantastic

I'm completely amazed at this. Part of me still thinks it's a photograph
The only thing i think that's weird about it is her lack of spine definition, BUT, since this is a photograph of a painting, it could be there and just not visual to us.
This is just absolutely amazing. My favourite part is the hand, it's gorgeous. I wonder if i'll ever learn to do cloth like that. practice makes perfect And you've got it!

Jumprabbit In reply to Alinedra [2007-11-26 00:26:26 +0000 UTC]
Well thank you , as it happens the spine falls just behind the cloth down her back, the bare bit below the cloth is the very lower back/upper butt, where there is no spine visable either. I did work from a photo (1 of more then 200 slight variations of the pose I took till I got what I had in my head)
Glad you like
