Description Aaaaaaand we're back to the formless mirrored box. Sorry. Didn't have time to put in a more interesting background.

The main point of this picture (other than Imperial Daleks, because who doesn't like a nice minty-fresh Imperial Dalek?) is to show off my new Imperial Supreme Dalek.

A couple of commenters mentioned that Curse of Davros (a Big Finish play I own but am not overly fond of) featured a Supreme Dalek under Davros' command and that there's an Imperial Dalek prop knocking around in black and gold. This started percolating in my head and I reaised that not only is this all true, 'Supreme Dalek' (as opposed to the more traditional 'Dalek Supreme') is always what Davros calls the red I-can't-believe-this-thing-still-looks-that-ugly Dalek from 'Journey's End'. And while this project has been all about mapping out a possible evolution of different elements of Dalek designs, those great big clamps still come out of nowhere.

Hence, well, this - a Supreme Dalek with prototypes of whatever the heck those lugs are. Bonus inspiration came from the fact that Nick Briggs voiced it in 'Curse' with a nice bit of reverb, suggesting something a little out of the ordinary. Orthos to follow, as per, plus revised orthos for all Imperial Daleks since I messed with the colours again.

Daleks belong to the Terry Nation Estate, these models are mine, hands behind the red silk rope at all times, please.

The Supreme Dalek resembles General Pturrd from the Second Empire comic series.

I assume the Supreme Dalek had an injury at work and has to wear the neck brace, at least until his compensation claim is complete.

Or it could be a fashion trend, which was adopted by the Supreme Dalek in the Revived Series 20 years later.

Of course! It's so obvious!

Those insurance companies, always dragging their feet .Ā  . . which is an impressive feat if you happen to be on Skaro.

Quick, call in the renegades, they're too minty fresh

Also, poke with a gentle buffer brush, don't want to ruin dat shine xD

Always liked Daleks, Paranoid, Cranky and xenophobic mutant squids with an ever itchy trigger finger and their own personal battlewagon. Truly Daleks are the superior beings xD

Heh, I'm glad to find someone else who hated the JE Supreme.

I'm not *brilliantly* enamored of this design mainly because a) Black and gold with black dome just never works for me for some reason. Gold domed ones I love though! Weird. b) I'm not a fan of the Imperial shape either! But as a precursor to the JE one its pretty damn good

Though [SPOILERS (sort of)] I will say the red one looks a lot better in the trailer for the next series. I think its the lighting in the scene, makes everything look like it fell out of a cushing movie

The lighting does help, I agree. I think the stark white is a definite winner as far as Dalek command chambers go.

And thanks for commenting, even if it's on a design you don't particularly like! Since I was going for a good solid precursor to the Red Supreme, I guess I nailed it for you even so!

I wish there was a series about the war between Imperial and Renegade Daleks, with other races like Cybermen and Sontarans and Draconians and humans and such, with lots of new Dalek designs and colour schemes we didn't see on tv. So things like grey Renegade SWDs, and a black and gold Supreme on the Imperial side. And the Cybermen could be mainly Earthshock/Attack ones, but we'd find out that the ones from Silver Nemesis were a special unit, rather than a whole new race or evolution of their design.

Oh, and modern style Sontarans in black/grey metallic armor like the classics.

This is the last Imperial Dalek I plan on building - I think I've covered all variants except the scout version mentioned in the novelisation of Remembrance, because I'm not sure how visually distinct that would look.

Thanks! I should really sit down and do one for each era . . . the ones I've done so far ave tended not to include all the variants.

Nice modification to a classic series Dalek using the series 4 Supreme Daleks neck section. Nice one mate

Librarian-bot In reply to DoctorWhoOne [2014-11-17 09:46:45 +0000 UTC]

Thanks - it fits better than I expected, although that may just be because I restricted it to the neck section and didn't carry the brackets down to the shoulders.
