Do you mean like people are going to trace my tutorial?

No, I'm making reference to your 2nd part last words: "Happy Painting!"

I mean, sounds like the Bob Ross': "Happy traces"

Oh I see. I haven't seen a Bob Ross show in like 10 years. Must be why I missed the reference.

thank you for sharing your process. the end steps help out so much where i am with faces.

i always feel i'm almost there, but when i look at my finished piece there's always something missing. if you have a few spare minutes perhaps you could offer me a pointer or two .. hundred?

thanks again for sharing, hoping to reach your level of adeptness sometime this century

I'm so sorry I didn't receive this comment in my message center. The best thing for anyone is to really learn the basics and fundamentals of art before they try to master digital painting. For me, this meant picking up a pencil and paper and drawing boxes and cones before I moved on to portraiture. Once I felt comfortable with value, light, construction, proportions, and then color, I moved to digital painting. Digital painting is merely a medium and no program can make up for what you lack.

It's a time consuming process as I got a degree in art but it was well worth it in the end.

About how long does it take for you to complete a painting of this beauty? I'm trying to develop the patience to paint like this, but I'd like to dive in head-first with at least some kind of insight. xD

Wow how did I miss this comment? Sorry for the long delay. I don't remember how long this took be to be honest. Similar works take about 20 hours however. Hope that helps!

It's alright, no worries. ^^ That long, really? I guess that's no surprise considering the amount of detail and realism.

Thank you! c:

This is one of the best artistic rendering from scratch tutorials that I have seen. The fact that you created a beautiful work of art with it helps.

Thanks for the tutorial! Always nice to see someone else's work-flow.

To save time you can use the "Copy Merged" (Ctrl+Shift+C) command to copy a flattened version of the image without having to flatten it. That command is a lifesaver for me
