Description
For more Lil Formers head to www.LilFormers.comSo, now that the movie is out everyone has been asking when I'm going to do somethign about Transformers 2. Well, this is pretty much how I feel about it. This movie has been so universally hated, so torn apart by every critic and blog as one of the worst movies ever, I really don't think I can add anything. In fact it's almost become an art form of it's own finding as reviewers find new levels of hyperbole to insult the movie.
Though I will say that the movie's supporters generally say things like "It's not supposed to be brilliant, just turn your brain off and have fun!" Sorry but, "turn your brain off" and "have fun" are directly contradictory. I'm not going to give any movie a break and pretend I'm stupid because it has expensive special FX (not good, expensive).
Anyways, it's sort of a sad statement about entertainment when this quality of movie does so well. It's just encouraging studios to abandon plot and acting in favor of girls bending over and junk blowing up.

On the TFW forums I'm like one of the biggest nay-sayers of the first Bayformers movie, but for some reason, I actually enjoyed ROFL (ROTF).
And now the tables are turned; I liked Bayformers II and now everyone else hates it. Haha!
Good comic though, as always.

And YOU must be the guy who threw a fit at the local Pizza Hut because they didn't serve beluga caviar and filet mignon.
Seriously, what were HONESTLY EXPECTING? IT'S A COMMERCIAL. A two and a half hour advertisement for cars and toys. People went out and bought the damn camaros and toys, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Just like Megan Fox got those implants to get attention, the bitch got a return on her investment.
You expect WAAAAAYYYYYYY too much from a company whose sole goal is to sell toys man. You want plot driven and realistic stories, here's a tip, DON'T EVER GO TO A MOVIE BASED ON A VIDEO GAME, TOY FRANCHISE, TV SHOW, BROADWAY PLAY OR SINGER.
Weed those out of your viewing list and you'll have your winners pal, enjoy.

I've seen lots of great movies that were largely created to sell related merchandise. Iron Man, Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Star Trek, Spider-man, X-men.
Sorry man, I expect a $100 million plus movie to have put some of that money towards making a good movie. You don't get a pass just because you have good merchandising rights.

I never said it gets a pass, but you can't walk into those type of movies ALWAYS expecting Oscar Gold. What? Were you expecting the harrowing tale of how Optimus Prime battled the Nazis to rescue the orphaned children from being medical test subjects while Megatron makes the iceberg that sinks the damn Titanic all the while Jazz travels back in time to fight in the civil war and helps the underground railroad? (Although THAT right there would be pretty kickass...)
You expect too much from these type of movies you will always be disappointed. You save your HIGH expectations for the GOOD directors. NOT FOR MICHEAL BAY. That name should have been the first black flag you saw.
And WHY would you go see a movie you KNOW you wouldn't have liked in the first place? You have no one to blame but yourself to caving into peer pressure man. You paid good money to sit there and be pissed off? That's why I haven't sat down to watch the new Indiana Jones movie. I know I won't like it, so why waste my time? Pop in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN or DEBBIE DOES DALLAS or whatever your definition of cinematic gold is and get over it.

In response to the not paying to see it part, I guess I'm one of those people, like Matt, who doesn't have the ethic that if something's free, we aren't allowed to complain about it. Also, I don't even have much of a connection to Transformers and I hated it.
Besides, the movie's a waste of two and a half hours even if it is free (I only saw it because one of my friends wanted to, and I wanted to hang out with him). What with the bad dialog and writing that has more plot-holes than an episode of Power Rangers, and Captain Planet combined (and not even in a funny way). Of course, it wouldn't be a Michael Bay movie without lowest common denominator humor like dogs humping, robots humping, borderline racist robots that I wish the decepticons killed at some point in the movie but sadly didn't (I'm not sure which is worse, them or Jar Jar Binks), enemy scrotum, and the movie's so proud of this that it has to point it out.
That's not even counting that the robot designs are terrible with details that are more busy than designs by Tetsuya Nomura and Rob Lifeld combined, and hard to tell apart. Terrible action scenes, because Bay gets a guy who's had 50 red bulls to control your camera at sunset, through a lens-flare to film it, as it shakes too much and is hard to follow.

And Titanic was grossly inaccurate with a contrived and unneeded romantic sub plot that was PAINFULLY predictable and disgustingly unrealistic. With a lack-luster cast that made me cringe in terms of the acting caliber that makes up the acting community. But that didn't stop it from winning 14 academy awards.
So the movie's crap, BOO FRIGGITY HOO. Everything's crap any more, books are crap, movies are crap, everything's crap. Once you acknowledge this fact instead of looking for that lamborghini in a crackerjack box, life becomes a little LESS of an annoyance.

Great example, I was under the impression that Michael Bay did that with Pearl Harbor, but in a more insulting manner. Besides, I doubt you even read what I wrote, because I didn't even get to the actors in the movie (Megan Fox is an overpublisized sex object anyways, who isn't hot, especially when compared to Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy). I haven't seen Titanic, but I'm still sure it's better than anything the douchebag known as Michael Bay could make (actually, I'm sure it's better just for the fact I doubt it has humping scenes that are supposed to be humor to douchebags). Also, were focusing on Transformers, so don't change the subject to stuff I didn't mention (especially considering we're talking about a crappy action, not a romance movie).
Also, don't spread emo crap like if you don't expect anything good you'll be able to get through better, or be less disappointed, or that everything's crap (there's enough of that on MySpace and in Final Fantasy VII, VIII and most games Tetsuya Nomura makes). That's a stupid excuse, and I might as well throw out any standards I may have for anyone or anything (I don't expect everything to appeal to me, but even I can enjoy things that don't always appeal to me). Also, the Crackerjack example doesn't work anyways, as no one would ever expect that (okay, maybe an idiot character in a Michael Bay movie). Besides, if anything the movie sucks for being unentertaining, uninteresting (I don't care if Shia LaBeouf's character gets to have sex with Megan Fox), and just plain bad. I don't expect everything to be in the same caliber as something by like Allan Moore or Joss Whedon in terms of concept, writing, creativity and entertainment valure, but is it so much to ask a movie with a 200 million dollar budget to at least be the quality, in both writing and design, of the saturday morning cartoon it's based on (even the cartoon, though made to sell toys, had decent pulp sci-fi style writing from what I've seen)?

Oh, I see, well EXCUSE me for responding while I'm getting ready for work then. I tend to get incoherent with less than 25 minutes to get ready.
And by now we ALL know Megan Fox is only good for one thing and here's a hint; it AIN'T acting. And the only actor even WORTH a crap out of the whole ensemble is Tyrese Gibson (Guy actually had the guts to make a public appearance WITH the fans. And is pretty decent as a person.)
And to be honest... This IS on par with the original G1 series, which was just a vehicle to sell toys. The plots were incredibly stupid, the writing was hackneyed and cheap, and the animation budget was about $50. So in retrospect, it's JUST LIKE the old cartoon. This is just a 2 and a half hour commercial. Bad plot, terrible actors, lame graphics, and terrible scripting. Accept it and move on.
You didn't waste a dime to see it, why dwell on it? Are you planning to actually DO something about it? I mean complaining on the internet is fun and everything but what actually is it accomplishing in terms of changing what's already happened?
You saw the movie, you lost some time out of your life, what are you gonna do? Complain until everyone agrees with you? I mean seriously, what do you even expect to get out of this verbal brawl with me? To have me crumble to my knees in tears, agreeing with you? I'm sorry, that's like asking me to change my religion to yours because you don't like mine. I'm not going to change my mind.

Megan Fox is good for something? That's a new one to me, considering she's an idiot as well. Besides, there was more than the bad plot, terrible actors, lame graphics and terrible scripting that I hated (actually, I'll give G1 the edge just for being low budget, and for probably having a lack of robot testicles and humping jokes).
Even if I didn't spend money on it, I still expected to see something worth while with a 200 million dollar budget on it. With that size of a budget, it's not something that should be treated like a student film where your surprised it even got made. So what if it's on par with G1 (which I've never seen), does that give it the excuse it to suck anyways? If anything, I'd expect more out of a 200 million dollar budget film than a cheap animated kids cartoon (it's like going to a high dollar resturant, only to get McDonalds). Just because it's based on something like a toy product, tv show, or some commercial product, doesn't give it an excuse to suck, or at least expect something more with a budget that large. Hell, Batman and most comic books have rediculous backstories when you think about it (both in comics, and movies), and yet I've found myself enjoing those (that and I'm sure a lot of things based on those comics were made to sell toys, so your argument's faulty). I went in with really low expectations and for it to be a mindless romp, and yet it somehow managed to go below those standards. There are bad movies based on excellent books like "The Bonfire of the Vanities," am I actually allowed to complain about the movie sucking just because of what it's based on? So why can a movie based on good book be judged in a constructive or critical manner, but yet I'm reading too much into it if it's an overbudgeted movie?
No, I'm not trying to change your mind (you can like whatever you like, and hate what you hate), and I could care less what someone's religion is. But under the impression of your comments to Matt, people like you seem to think we're all just sheep following what popular opinion is and we had no valid reasons for hating it (I could care less about what it's based on anyways, a god-awful movie is god-awful no matter what it's based on). Maybe we just want others to be aware that it's probably better to wait for the DVD if their curious, because now it seems like no reviewer can give constructive criticism to movies that are popular (like this one), or that were haters who just like to rip movies a new one.

My issue is all the complaining is doing absolutely NOTHING to change anything. You don't like the movie? Get an enraged mob together and storm Paramount Studios and set it ablaze. Assassinate Micheal Bay, have Shia Lebouf kidnapped and sold for meat. ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING, STOP COMPLAINING. COMPLAINING GETS US NO WHERE. GET OFF YOUR DUFFS AND ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING.
I think between all the critics and mixed reviews, leaked footage, and bootlegs being sold in the underground, PEOPLE have been sufficiently warned. If they spend money to see it, and don't like it, that's their own fault for being stupid. If you see a car coming and cross the street ANYWAY, it's your own fault if you get hit. DEAL WITH IT.
I have no problem with people not liking the movie. But all this archchair critiquing is just getting tiresome.

Gee, I hate the movie and I can't stand Micheal Bay, but setting a studio on fire and resorting to killing someone because I hated their movie and how they act is too extream. That, and I'm not one who would want something like that on my hands, as I'm not one to solve my problems through violence (this isn't a corrupt government for peat's sake). Come up with better solutions, and maybe I'll listen to you, but until then I'd like to hear what you would do.
Speaking of which, if you hated Titanic so much why didn't you assassinate James Cameron or do something awful to Leonardo DiCaprio? Why didn't you go and do the things you suggested to the people responsible for Titanic? I'm curious, would you actually be willing to do something like that?

Hey, murder is a long term solution to an ongoing problem. Namely people. I suppose you could hold some hippy group protest outside the Hasbro HQ or send massive amounts of letter to the company if you really want to.
Because unlike SOME people, I don't go on a ranting tirade every time something crappy comes out. If I hate something I boycott it, plain and simple. No ranty journal entries, no opinionated cartoons, just my moral stand against something I don't approve of. If the movie stinks, just don't go. (Besides it was a birthday favor to a friend, had no other choice.)
Besides, the cops already have me on file, And I'm saving up those two strikes for something BIG. Something WORTH doing life for. (State just got rid of the death penalty.)

I've said this already a few times, but-
The movie was nothing but a fight between two teens, that just so happened to drag them across the world, with explosions and the occasional robot in the background. There were so many... ILLOGICAL point in the damn movie, like that TERMINATORBITCH. What the FUCK was that?
I went and saw it with my mother, who knows... VERY little about Transformers. She loves Ratchet and Optimus, and she knows that Starscream is usually no one's bitch but Megatron's.
SHE said it was stupid, that she knew what Ratchet LOOKED like and hardly saw him! It started out, really promising... Then it just went down hill soooo fast. Ideally, I suppose he couldn't keep it JUST about the robots, but REALLY.
I knew whot the new Autobots were and I could hardly tell who was who! And where was the characterization!? It really was just... Lame.

WHAT Giant robots? There were hardly ANY giant robots! If the idea was to remake the originals by with better effects- he failed. Everything was rushed, face-paced and poorly done. Really, overall, the film was a disaster.

Not only did it kill Jackson's infameously flamboyant inter-child, but it also killed the the shell that housed the spirit of what was left if "Little Michael".
