Description
This is a thankyou to all my watchers. After 3 years being asked to make a tutorial, it's finally here lol. Yeah a bit late and everyone has probably advanced past this tutorial level, but i hope it helps some artists nevertheless.I don't enjoy lineart so I'm using this recent one [link] and re-coloring it different from the original.
This is my full process of coloring lineart. I don't always use this process, but these were the same steps i used when coloring the original which can be seen here: [link]
It didn't turn out as well as the original, but i rushed it as much as possible cause i just wanted to focus on the process and it's the 2nd time to color the same thing. This took me about 6 hrs straight to fully write up and color so i apologize for spelling, grammar or just not understandable cause i haven't double-checked.
Feel free to ask questions!

This is very interesting! Thanks for the share.
Now i only have one problem that bothers me, How excatly does one import an image to PS without it changing the size, res, etc..?
Example, i got a new document set up with height 600,width 700, res 500, and now that i want to bring in a drawing, it completely changes the settings around to fit the drawing... :S
Any ideas?
Thanks for your time, i much appreciate it

I'd open the drawing, change the image size to h:600 or w:700 (whichever is less), and then change canvas size to trim off any excess height or width. It'll be a good idea to have the draw on a separate layer than the background layer so then you can move it around after trimming.

I always enjoy learning a new method of painting. After about two years of working digitally, I'm still trying to find the method which best suites me, so I'm always grateful when a more experienced artist shares their knowledge.

Wow! I was just idly browsing random words on DA and I came across this tutorial which looked interesting. ive seen and read many a tutorial yet this one is so thorough! I absolutely love your process from beginning to end. Sort of makes me want to go draw a sketch and try it out x.x but i have class in like an hour. I have one question that quickly came up soon after I finished reading, and has been my main problem with painting digitally, what opacity should one use to paint with the brush? Since its always at 100%, doing strokes like the one in the hair would come out too hard. Thanks for tutorial I will try it soon.

After I've blocked in colors, i set my airbrush to about 10-15% flow and 100% opacity. When i get into finer details i set it up to 100%.

Depends how dirty, try play with image adjustment tools in photoshop. Specifically brightness/contrast or levels control.

Yes! Thank you so much for this! I've been looking for a lineart tutorial but I never could find one. Just a couple of questions though. How do you cut and paste the layer into a new section? I know it may sound dumb, but I get confused easily and what is a tablet? You'll have to excuse me
I'm such a noob at Photoshop =]
