This has been the culmination of a project months in the making! (Though it's also a project that should've been finished a months ago.
)As is mentioned in the title this is part 1 of a 2 part story.
-I hesitate to mention this but, for those offering critique I must make a clarification; This has been a project months in the making. I'm not asking you to hold back or pull punches, rather just be aware that my art has improved since I originally sketched this thing out. Please take a look at one or two of my other recent pictures before you tailor your advice based on this picture alone.

You know, I never really gave AJ and Applebloom (and big Mac's) parentage that much of a thought. It's never mentioned, and given the statement from the writers not to touch 'heavy' subject matter, I doubt we'll see it again.

Thank you! I takes a lot of effort in sequential art to show instead of tell. So many times the temptation to just explain a concept with a simple text box is quite strong. The rewards are worth the effort though. ^^

Yes, it is an extra motivator knowing that people enjoy what I spend so much time creating.
-As for sadness, to be honest I never thought about my gallery being full of "sadness". -Though I seem to have a thing for crying ponies. XP
I guess I like to inject my pictures with a little drama. I love creating humorous pieces too, but when I see a picture with a lot of drama, or a picture that touches on a dramatic subject, it makes an impression in my mind. Sometimes it generates an emotional reaction. The point is, I come up with these scenarios that might seem sad, perhaps because the idea generates an emotional response in me, and I hope also in the people who look at my art.
From looking at a few select pieces of my art, you might conclude that I have a greyer or depressed outlook in life- but trust me, that ain't the case! I'm actually a very bright and optimistic guy in person.
