Alright, here's part 2! A note about printing the pattern: paste the picture into a Word document, and then resize it to fill the ENTIRE paper, even going over the margins.
If anything's not clear (which it probably is. I'm terrible at explaining things), feel free to ask.

Thank you. I figured it would be something like this, and then just cutting and taping the pieces together once it was out. I just didn't want to use a ton of paper only to do it wrong!

Understandable. I went through a similar thought process for the Mudkip I mentioned (at one point I got so frustrated I threw an empty can of hair spray at my friend who wanted the annoying little bugger. She laughed off my antics because she knew by that point I was sleep deprived and ready to kill her with the closest thing near me --which was a spoon). After I found that equation I realized I was over complicating things.
I plan on making a 5 foot Toothless so I can wear him draped over my shoulders and have the wings as a make-shift shawl at an anime con (because I'll eventually make a Hiccup cosplay for the midnight premiere of HTTYD 2). I want him big enough so I can wear him and then be my pillow for the weekend but I don't want any part of him to drag on the floor because the fabric will get worn and dirty (not to mention people might step on it).
I'm glad I could help.

Oh, I'll totally take this guy with me to cons. And taking him to a midnight premiere sounds epic too.
And your friend amuses me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one (I would love a 6 foot toothless, but I'm short and I really don't want him stepped on by the rude people at cons --you know they exist). I was so upset when looking at the official plushies of him, why couldn't they make a toothless without his mouth open!!
My friend is a slave driver, the reason I'm so good at sewing plushies stems from her saying 'I have this plush toy that I ripped the seams out of, can you make me a new one that's bigger/smaller/whatever proportions she wants at that moment' (because she changes her mind, frequently). She pays me for it but I usually work on it what she's so busy she can't bug me and has the chance to change the size of it (the mudkip I mentioned was supposed to be a remake without resizing, it ended up 4 feet). I love her, I just wish she could stick to something.
I really can't wait to make this plush (can't right now because I just emptied nearly all of my funds for a hotel room for my next con -I have enough to finish my cosplays and hopefully my secret cosplay I'm doing for a friend because she loves the character). Though I find sewing fleece a pain I want to go with another type of fabric like a minky (my sister wants a toothless in minky just because it's a lot softer and plush than fleece is) or maybe a velour even though it's really expensive. . .

Having her constantly change the size would be incredibly annoying... After I cut the fabric, no changes allowed. xD
I dropped $40 on the materials last week, but $200 of graduation gift money wasn't really going to put a dent in my college needs anyways. and now I'll have Toothless, so... totally worth it. I just got ultra cuddle fleece. Everyone has been using minky, but to be honest I'm not sure I've ever seen minky/known what it was.

No she only does this when I'm resizing. Because most of the time when I'm resizing something it's on graph paper (unless she wants a plush more than a foot). If I scan the pieces into the computer I make her buy me a ream of paper.
They sell it at my craft store in town. Besides, even if they didn't I could always go to minkydelight.com because they have it. I spent my graduation money on a new car battery because mine died 2 weeks before graduation. I like minky because it doesn't irritate my skin like fleece does and I'll be sleeping on this thing.

I just hope a giant fleece dragon won't make me too warm when I try to sleep. I love having the weight of blankets on me so I can cuddle, but my heat tolerance is -very- low.

This is very true. I live in the southern part of the united states and we have summer the majority of the year, maybe a couple of cold says and our 'Three months of dark' which my family refers to it where there is no sunlight at all from January to March.
Flannel might be a good substitute for fleece, it isn't as thick as fleece is but it can be just as soft if you buy the right brand (the flannel I usually buy is anyways).

I have a question about the sewing, can most of the work be done with a sewing machine, or by hand?

nooby-banana In reply to Legend-of-Zelda123 [2012-05-21 05:43:21 +0000 UTC]
I did most of it with a machine, but there are a few people who did all of it by hand and it turned out great!

They aren't really horns so much as ears. The longest one is an ear, at least.

So how is it that the horns work exactly. The pieces on the head are the front while the separate two pieces are the back?
And the upper head pIeces don't quite line up. Do I trim off the extra or something

Wolpertinker [2011-12-14 22:40:42 +0000 UTC]
I have a question for the hOrns on the head. So the pieces on the upper head are the front of the horn while the to separate pieces we cut out make up the back.
Also, the pieces of the upper head arn't quite lining up. They are off my a little bit. Is that ok

nooby-banana In reply to Wolpertinker [2011-12-15 03:05:59 +0000 UTC]
Yup, you got the horns right. And it's fine if the pieces are off by a little bit. As long as it's less than half an inch it should be fine.

Thnx
The belly pieces are also supposed to be slighty shorter than the body piece right.
Lol
Sorry this is my first time doing a plush
Graduated from clothes
Also
The neck. Are you sewing the the back of the horns onto the the neck right.
Lol

Well your going to take the four head pieces and sew them together
Once that is done take the horn pieces and line them up against the horns on the head pieces
Make sure the outter side of the head and horn pieces are facing each other
Than you just sew around the edge of the pieces
Hopes that helps
I made him last year
Lol

I would do this, but I physically cannot use a sewing machine. I spent an hour trying to sew the upper head to the lower head, and came out with 4 ruined pieces and a hell of a lot of annoyance for the sewing machine

I am gonna attempt to make him. Although...my skills with a sewing machine suck and all I have is black and yellow fabric. I shall improvise and make Toothless...BY HAND! This shall be fun. :3

Hey, I wanted to make a Toothless plushie of my own using this pattern, but I wanted to make it a bit bigger than the one here. Do you know how I might be able to do that? Would I have to resize the image? Thanks!

nooby-banana In reply to lightxlawliet [2011-06-19 23:47:28 +0000 UTC]
It should be possible, just make the pattern as big as you can in Word and it should be a little bigger.

Hey, I'm also working on this project, and I accidentally printed the patterns on the page that opens up when you click on the links instead of going to my word document and enlarging them, is that o.k, or should I still go on word and estimate how to enlarge them?

nooby-banana In reply to SilverDragonFox [2011-06-19 00:27:27 +0000 UTC]
It'll be fine how you printed them, but the plushie will turn out a little smaller than mine. If you want a larger plush then just take it into Word and enlarge them.

Hey! I've just finished my own Toothless head and I'm really happy with it so far, thank you so much for doing this! The only issues I had were cutting out the identical head pieces not knowing I needed to flip the pattern pieces around for the other side of the head because I'm working with minky fabric, (probably not the best idea I know but I just love how it feels). the only other thing I noticed is I needed to cut out four horn 2 pieces because when I sewed the two head pieces together one horn piece would not have fit over them. That's all, again thank you
