A new and improved fur tutorial, yay!I chose to start in black and white and add color later in the hopes that it would make it easier to see what was going on with the fur texture.
Though I used a wolf as an example, this is really just a method, and could be applied to any animal or length of fur.
I'm using Photoshop CS, though I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to adapt this to other programs...
I am also assuming that a tablet will be used, and that the opacity and size sensitivity would be ON for all of this.
I followed [link] very closely as a reference....

How'd you get your color so vibrant in that final image? The color that ends up on the drawing isn't even close to the one I want it to be, even with the brush set at 100% opacity...did I miss something? I went through all the steps again and it came out the same :/
Still...a great tutorial! I just wish I could figure out the color issue.

I found a t-shirt today and the wolves on it had the most beautiful and realistic fur. I could have swore you were the one who made the designs, but I don't think you are XD.
Do you have any online stores where you sell your work on shirts or posters? I googled you to see if you had any, but unfortunately you don't have anything it seems. I would really like to wear around your art and show it off. Not to mention you could make a lot of extra cash selling your stuff.
But yeah, I am rambling.

You choose and mix your colors together very well. :}

The best fur I can do now is like this: duplicate the color layer, lock it(So color doesn't go out of it), color it whatever color goes best with the base color, un-lock it, then get the eraser and set the opacity...about...10%-30%, and the size varying.
