This is so lovely. Pictures of Erik as a child are always so heartwrenching, I find, because he is far too young to understand why the world hates him so. I shudder to think how he must have felt upon being rejected by his own mother.

Well.....in my less than humble opinion, when he refers to the edge he is talking about the extreme nature of his own will to play with fire. The flames are beautiful, but will consume.
