The next day, the sun was rising over the forest as James led Jena through the trees. James had never seen Scarlet cry before, he was worried and wanted to check on her before visiting the hospital. She had tears in her eyes, James thought.

"Should we really be walking through the woods?" Jena asked as her voice quivered with a hint of fear. "I mean, its called the 'Dread' Rook Forest after all." She emphasized the word dread with finger quotes as she said it.

"Scarlet lived here for years before she met me," James replied, lifting a branch so Jena could walk under.

"Yeah, but doesn't this forest make you feel like you're being watched?" Jena asked, glancing around.

"Sometimes," James replied. "But the forest is usually safe in the day time."

"If you say so," Jena said, glancing behind her again.

"Here we are," James said as they come upon Scarlet's trailer.

"How does she manage out here," Jena murmured. "Without anyone?"

"I don't know," James replied. "She says she prefers the solitary life." He stepped up to the door and knocked, fround when there was no answer, and knocked again.

"Scarlet!" James called as he knocked a third time.

"Go away," Scarlet's muffled voice uttered from inside, her voice sounded hoarse.

"I-it sounds like she wants to be alone," Jena whispered. "We should probably respect her wishes."
