Description

The Space Marine Legions maintain their own mobile heavy artillery units. The long-range Basilisk is one of the most common artillery units used by the Legions.

The 11th Space Marine Legion, besides its fleet of standard Legion Basilisks, operates the Vanaheim-Pattern Basilisks, as shown here.

To improve the effectiveness of their artillery pools, the 11th cadres of Forge-wrights upgraded the legions Basilisks. This earned them the ire of the tech-adepts of Mars in the process.

Their changes included re-boring the barrel from 132 mm to 152 mm (5.1 and 5.9 inches). In their quest for long-range fire, the Forge-wrights invented rocket-assisted ammunition to increase the Basilisk’s maximum firing range from 15 km to 18 km (9 to 11 miles).
