Awesome! This helped a lot! I didn't even know how to use this thing! No more drawing lineart with bare hands.

If you have a tablet, definitely try a combination between the Pen Tool and your own lines. (Otherwise, yeah! No bare hands!) XD

Hehe. Of course I've got a tablet~ Without it I wouldn't even be doing digital art. :'D Doing those things with a mouse is far more worse than trying to do clean lineart without that Pen Tool. ^^''
And many thankies again.

* Make sure the layer you're working on isn't locked
* Make sure your settings look exactly like mine
* Send me a screenshot if this doesn't help

shiine-chan In reply to ??? [2011-02-05 14:33:13 +0000 UTC]
Mind if I ask something? I've experimented loads of times with my brush settings and I always end up with lines with round edges. I want to make them look like what you have there in your palette (with the thin edges, kind of a wispy line).
Is it that "pen pressure" thing you were talking about earlier?

Popo-Licious In reply to shiine-chan [2011-02-05 16:12:03 +0000 UTC]
Yes. :3 If you have a tablet and want tapered lines, you need to check pen pressure ON before you stroke your lines. :3

manga is the best software for outlines if you ask me that pen tool is a lots of work

Popo-Licious In reply to NERDvision [2011-01-26 19:12:41 +0000 UTC]
Well, any program that allows you to draw directly is arguably "easier" than using the pen tool, but it has certain advantages that can't be replicated otherwise. :3

Thanks! And yes, you can use it for lineart just as well as one might use it for architectural designs, geometric shapes, etc. It has so many properties! XD

Awesome. I've been terrified of the pen tool for TOO LONG, I say! And now I sort of get what to do with it. Or at least some things I -can- do with it. And now I know how to also avoid making giant confused swirls.
Thank you.
