Description For all those who have asked repeatedly for my OB, herewith an enhanced release of the Leopard theme.

THIS VERSION INCLUDES AveForceQuit and iShut both with Leopard Skins built into the Apple menu

Download here: [link]

I have built in a few more features and made the dropdowns 95% accurate - when compared to the Leopard information displayed by the MenuBar on my Mac

This version contains the vbs file already built into the spotlight for Landvermesser's MacSearch application (available here [link] ), it also includes d-bug's AboutMac, an AboutFinder box and a pseudo Finder Preferences application.

Please download BOTH zip files and install as per the individual ReadMe files contained within each zip file.

Part One: Contains contains the OB theme, please install the fonts and install the theme into your ObjectBar directory

Part Two: Contains the other elements needed for the theme. NB Please install the contents of this zip into your C:\Program Files directory.

This mod was compiled using OB 1.6 and tested under WinXP - I'm not sure if it will work under OB2

Please note, this theme is NOT intended to be a fully functional version of the Mac MenuBar, it features some pseudo elements (battery meter, sync etc.), much like the original TigerBar had - no more, no less.

Its intended to share some of the Leopard items we enjoy using the Mac with those users unable to do so.

Many thanks to Apple, Pete Ross, Magbi9, d-bug, AndreasV and beric / jed717ph

NO problem. I've noticed that on some systems, the deskshade option doesn't show up the contents of the taskbar. I haven't come across one that throws out an error though. I don't know why this is and maybe the thing to do is to test an original TIGER release and see if it does the same (get the original release here [link] ).

Because I don't have access to endless PC's its unfortunately its impossible for me to be able to test every eventuality and perhaps this is a display card issue? If you are still struggling, maybe check on the boards at aqua-soft.

With volume, the icon won't change as your volume goes up and down, but the normal windows volume slider will come up when you click on the icon. If you want the proper Mac styled volume adjuster (ie keyboard activated) then I suggest you take a look at MacSound [link]

BTW, If you have purchased a Mac keyboard for your system you will find some of the keys don't work properly. You can remap almost all of the keys by using this handy program [link] Go thru the instructions carefully because you will need to select the option that applies ti Mac keyboard.

Because the Mac shows a different icon for each app you are wanting to quit, there is no single icon for forcequit..

I have made a quick generic icon that might help you for your dock.

Cheers Maraca and thanks too for the fave. I don't know if it works with the trial version unfortunately. The installation is straightforward, all you need to do is after installing Objectbar, you put the folder into (usually) your Program FIles/Stardock/ObjectDesktop/Objectbar folder.

To run the program, double click on the *.obtheme file and it will load.

Good luck

Hmm.. I've never heard that one. If you are using a WB theme try and disable it and see if you get the standard WIN frame. If that works (and it should), then try and load another WB theme...

For a more accurate display, I use Dobee's Leopard theme for the about boxes..

Hope this helps

This looks awesome dude and I'd really love to use it except I've got a problem. I'm using OB1.6 trial but I can't open minimized windows. If I open say the default calculator, notepad(which I normally have resized to half the screen), and other programs that aren't automatically full screen. The only way I'm writing this was by opening Firefox, it flashed for a second, disappeared but I could press Alt+Space and select maximise.

Otherwise it looks and works awesome.

RaatsGui In reply to yorkey-sa [2008-10-31 00:53:19 +0000 UTC]

Dunno what's happening there.. The only thing I can think is that there is an issue with OB trial. I used 1.6 for this because I found it absolutely stable and there have been very few problems as far as users go...

I've never seen what you are describing so its hard to replicate what the problem is. Maybe take a look on either OSX-e or Aquasoft for a clean download of OB 1.6. I think there are free versions drifting around somewhere - but I could be wrong.

If I get the time I'll take another look when next I'm working on a PC..

Ok Finderbar and MacClock don't open at all, when I click it doesn't respond. OB still has the same prob. I'll go find another download of 1.6

i can't change the clock font and the file, edit, view... font... which kinda takes out some of the fun out of it! i was also wondering if u had any bmp icons that i could use that aren't included such as an ichat icon??? thankz!

RaatsGui In reply to Junior8791 [2008-10-22 07:17:04 +0000 UTC]

Hi Pancho mate --

Cheers for the feedback. Changing the font is easy, you need to open the .obskin files in the skins folder and change my choice of Lucida Sans Unicode to the font of your choice.

You open the file with notepad and edit using find and replace

As for the other icons.. I don't have them available at this time because I have taken the one's provided directly off my Mac menubar. If I get some spare time I will dig through the SArtFile.bin and see if I can extract the others...

Hey Mark,

Thank you so much, that really was bugging me. But now that I changed that I can be at peace with myself! haha Well thank's for the help! and as for the icons there isn't any rush for it or anything!

But i did have three more question...
Do you know if i can make the bar transparent or do i have to change the whole bar and change the whole bar?
another question i have is...
for some reason my wb isn't applying the leopard theme to my scroll bars on my (explorer) finder.
and finally i know this is a bunch of stuff but up to this point i haven't really got a lot of help from people who know what they're doing!

do you know any way for me to change all my icons at once into the leopard theme?
thankz again!

Rene... Pancho was just a joke! lol

RaatsGui In reply to Junior8791 [2008-10-24 15:26:22 +0000 UTC]

No problem mate --

To make the OB theme transparent, you need to use OB2. Personally, I don't believe OB2 does a great job of the transparency, but it might work for you.

To get it 100% Mac accurate, you will need to remake the bar and ALL the icons each time you change the background. This takes a very long time if you have the patience, but in the end it is certainly worth it! Leopard has a very specific way it makes each bar transparent and I haven't seen any Photoshop made bar that looks accurate, but that IS one way of doing it....

Because changing the bar icons takes such a long time, I will see if I can find some time and make up a set of all the Leopard Menu Bar icons - as icons. Hopefully this will mean you only need to change the bar in the future. I'm not promising anything - only if I get a chance. Its a lot of work so lets see if I can find the time. If I get it right I'll release them here on DA

I don't know why your WB is not skinning your explorer. I assume you are not using one of the clones like NeXplorer or Looca? If you're using FindXer then it should work. I suggest you try another WB theme and see if that works. If not then check your WB settings and make sure you don't have it instructed to change the skin of Explorer. You must look under the tab that refers to changing the skin of a specific application - under there you will see if there are any programs listed for specific skinning

Changing your system icons is simple. You will need to change you Shell32 file and you can get the new version from here [link] - Follow the instructions and it works perfectly. I assume you are running XP. I don't know anything about VISTA so if you are using a VISTA OS, you will need to see if it works first. Remember, if you change your Shell32 file, its highly likely that you will need to change it EACH TIME your machine does a Windows update.

good luck...

RaatsGui In reply to Junior8791 [2009-04-08 06:25:23 +0000 UTC]

I have never heard of those issues before Pancho mate.

Please check the following;
1) Do you have a fully paid version of OB?
2) Have you installed it properly? - ie: C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\ObjectBar
3) Have you configured the General option properly? - ie. Hide menu's of applications when replaceable section is present etc. etc.
4) XP or VISTA?

Remember that this theme was developed under OB1.6 but I know there are thousands of users who are running later versions of OB and they seem to be happy.
OB is an incredibly solid piece of software and there are very few people who have had problems. Its easy to install and very easy to configure so I assume its one of the above that has caused the problem.

Thankz... Pancho isn't the name... it's actually Rene but I've always thought Pancho was a funny name! lol Well mate i figured it out after looking at the advise u gave me about checking the general option. I noticed that objectbar had the same feature as style in hiding the window (explorer) menus and so they were conflicting with one another trying to hide the the same menus! So i disable the styler hide option and now everything is perfect! thankz though... without ur advise i would have just kept putting the issue aside and not use object bar!

Hey i'm just wondering... what ever happened to just project on apple tv and everything else on ur website? I was a huge fan of the emulation progress u were making... why did u take it all down mate? [link]

how would you make the drop shadow for the bar?

RaatsGui In reply to edin187 [2008-10-05 09:56:32 +0000 UTC]

As far as I remember, OB has an option to put in its own dropped shadow.

The shadow is not something that is a separate part of the theme - ie. not something the theme will create. Its either yz shadow cast or OB that will display the shadow for you.

Good luck

Updated. Made a couple icons using your bitmaps (enlarged it, zoomed in and erased the background and made the canvas smaller). Now, they're all in .ico format.

Tested with a different background also.

And here are the icons I used/made.

You have done a LOT of work here mate. Cheers for sharing.

My only small comment would be that on the Mac, Leopard displays a 1 pixel tiny pin-line under each icon that is lighter than the bar. This I have found is very difficult to get to display correctly in OB because of its file format limitations - hence my preference of creating an entire bitmap instead of just the ico file.

I guess its just one of those things that fuss me, but then happily we are not all the same.

I'm convinced that your efforts would be hugely appreciated by the community so if you were to post them as releases on DA and also on Aquasoft, I'm sure you will get a lot of thanks!!

Cheers again and well done!!

ajones7279 [2008-09-26 01:58:36 +0000 UTC]

One more question lol. I noticed in this [link] and in most of your screenshots, you use the "leopard space" background with the transparency illusion correct? Well, which icons are you using there? (I.E. the airport, volume etc icons) Or did you modify the backgrounds of those icons to go with that background?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RaatsGui In reply to ajones7279 [2008-09-26 05:28:34 +0000 UTC]

Yep, I custom make all the icons for those themes.
I actually took the 100% correct Leopard transparency files from my Mac and rebuilt them for OB. It takes ages and a lot of people prefer not to use the transparency (especially Mac users) - that's why I released the enhanced theme using the correct Leopard default MenuBar graphics, but without any transparency

ajones7279 In reply to ??? [2008-09-24 03:33:18 +0000 UTC]

Ohh...sorry about the confusion, I was showing you how I tried to make the ObjectBar look "transparent" and the "system tray" icons don't change when I edit the Tiger_bar.bmp to appear transparent. The picture in AvePreview is the screenshot I took to show the problem I was having...as to how the icons stay opaque when I change the Tiger_bar.bmp. Is there a way around this without having to somehow edit all the icons?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RaatsGui In reply to ajones7279 [2008-09-24 07:57:40 +0000 UTC]

Ohh... Sorry mate...

Unfortunately is not possible to get the icons transparent unless you make each one individually. Its a massive undertaking because you need to do this each time you change the wallpaper. The other thing is that you will need to ensure that the icons stay in the same position with each theme because if you (for example) swap the display icon to sit in front of the bluetooth icon, then the background illusion is lost.

If you are skilled with PhotoShop, then you can make up your own psd files so you can change them every time you change your wallpaper.

I believe that OB 2 gives you the option to make the entire OB transparent if you like. I'm not sure if it works well enough and I'm not sure if my themes will work using OB 2, but maybe you can play around and if you get it sorted you can post your findings on the boards!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ajones7279 In reply to RaatsGui [2008-09-25 01:24:41 +0000 UTC]

Yea OB2 gives you the option for transparency and it worked fine with this theme. The emulation wasn't the same because of how it didn't have the program names customizable and how it said "Desktop" instead of Finder, etc. Problem is, the transparency option doesn't work when using the Objectbar Mod and it allows the name changing. Sooo, I think I'm gonna try to find some icons (.ico) without the partial bar background. It would be a nuisance to keep doing the icons over and over and making sure they're in the same spot every time. Ugh, so far, I haven't found a good set of Mac system tray icons that actually look good AND have a transparent background, or they won't be exactly transparent because they'll have white space in between the lines (ie the Airport icon would have white spaces in it). If you have any, or know of a good site, I'd be grateful. If not, I'll try to make some and possibly upload them.

Hi Antonio!

Hell, but that is a strange one. Never seen it before because it seems like somehow the OB theme is interfering with the skin in the viewer. I can't even work out the logic behind what is happening unless its somehow tied into the display card - but in all honesty that is highly unlikely.

What happens if you use another Skin for AvePreview?? does it still do the same?

I have tested this heavily on numerous systems but all using XP SP2 and 3. The big problem I have is that I'm a Mac user so my exposure to the Windows environment is limited to say the least.

I will try and work out what's going on for you, but at this stage I'm unable to replicate the problem which will make it hard to try and nail down.

Maybe do more tests your side by trying other OB skins and other AvePreview skins to try and see what hates what....

ajones7279 In reply to ??? [2008-09-23 16:37:26 +0000 UTC]

No problem, it's the best theme I've seen so far. One more thing, are you using the ObjectBar mod that allows you to change the program titles? I lost transparency when I started using that...and I wouldn't really mind having to make a new bar every time I change my background but when I tried it once, the "system tray" icons weren't "transparent" like the rest of the bar. How would I go about that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RaatsGui In reply to ajones7279 [2008-09-24 03:19:33 +0000 UTC]

I use the OB Mod [link] plugin for OB 1.6. I don't have version 2 because I don't use the PC much.

OB is by nature a very ratty program and I make all the dropdowns by creating entirely new *.obar themes bars in the BARS folder.

I find it especially time consuming to work this way but the best thing I found was to experiment as much as possible.

BTW, feel free to modify my theme as much as you want. If you find a better way to make it work I'm sure the community will be very grateful!
