Description
Update: Thanks everyone for the DD. I've uploaded a higher contrast image, so you may see the text better. : )Dedicated to my the watchers, who seem to enjoy my pencil work.
-----
This tutorial covers the materials, process, and mistakes of the penciling process, and there is even a short step by step demonstration showing how I do my pencil drawings. Although the example is anime, this can really be used for all styles and the methods and steps taken carry outside of the genre. I worked quite hard on this, so I hope you all enjoy it. This tutorial IS reading intense, but it's worth it--I promise.
Feel free to ask me a question by sending me a note. And, please do tell me if this tutorial helps you any as it encourages me to make more and it simply makes me happy.

How do I prevent smudging after I am done drawing?
All you have to do is go down your local arts and crafts store and purchase some fixative. It's like a spray that you can use on your drawings to prevent smudging. Make sure you step back away from your drawing when you spray and if you are sensative to sprays or odors, use it outside. Also, you make sure you purchase a 'workable' fixative' so that you can still come back and edit easily. You can also use hair spray as a cheap substitute^^ Don't grab the adhesive spray by mistake!! They are usually placed right next to each other in similar cans.
I make my tutorials for free, but if you enjoy my tutorials and want to donate some funds for gas, art books and such, I would appreciate it. [link]

May I compliment you on your pencil skills!!!!! Your awesome with pencils!
I've been using pencils for sometime now and I still found some helpful stuff here! ^____^
I loved the part with the ball where you explained the light part. That's EXACTLY how I was taught!
I have some pencil works in my gallery, would you mind taking a look and giving me your most honest opinion?...I know youβre probably busy so Iβll say this one--->[link] is probably my best.
Thanks and congrats!!!!

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you... my message box has been a bit swamped ^^'
I learned the lighting thing from my art teacher as well ^^
I looked through your gallery and and I have to say you've got some beautiful pencil works If I could offer any advice it'd be to build up your shading more specifically... most things can broken down to simple shapes but it's important to not just see the simple shades but to see more complex surfaces... if that makes sense ^^'

A-Xofia In reply to sashas [2006-07-18 10:52:08 +0000 UTC]
No problem! ^____^
I guess teachers must learn it all the same way too no wonder: it's a really helpful way to see shading! ^^
I think it makes sence... I sometimes have the tendency to over-simplify the shapes and shading (especially when I'm getting tired of it
) I'll try harder to look at it as a whole from now on
Thank you so much!!!!!! ^____^
