Dude!! I LOVE what you've done with the stars! They're AMAZING! How you have like millions of them close together - seemingly mixed with clouds/dust. WOOOOW! *picks jaw up*

*blushes* thanks Petra. This is by far my most favorite piece. The stars are just layers and layers of noise, blurred and coloured and arranged. It took a while. If you want, I can send you the planet I used in this, so you have a reference or even a source for you own planets.

i second the comment about those red spot things on the planet...they're odd and scarey
however i like the little shadow planet
you got the depth just right...(finally lol)
but i think i figured out whats wrong with your 'star' glare things
its too flat
give them more depth
btw planet = awesome

the only thing i find a little disturbing are those 2 red circles on the planet. are they lenseflares?

no, i use the Screen or lighten blending mode, but I do do that for the shadows of the clouds. :S

i love it man. very good job. for critique, i think the planet is a little flat. i would bring out the shadow more. and the city lights look a little too sharp, almost like noise.
but other than that man, very very sick job!

i found a new technique recently. use a lighting effect filter on your planet layer. make the first one very mild and just do it multiple times. its been working out really nice for me. its under filter-render-lighting effects

Oh cool thanks. I use lighting effects for the shadow on my planets, gives better results than making a black layer and blurring it.

I like that the image overlaps the border... it's a very interesting and unique approach that gives the piece a whole new life.

you're welcome. I especially like the colorchange from red towards blue. And the shadows are quite advanced
