Description
Tooth & ClawChapter 1 - "Sir Milo"
by Chris Spry
Introducing Chapter 1 of Tooth & Claw, "Sir Milo".
Trouble is stirring in the muskrat village of "Greenwater" and its up to 'Sir Milo' to help save a family in peril, but not all is at is seems to be. If you like cartoons involving anthropomorphic animals set in a medeival time period with darker and more serious overtones, then this one's for you. The start of hopefully more to come. Chapter 2 is already in progress.

You're not the first person to give me the Redwall parallel. It's funny, cause I tried to read that book and couldn't get through it. I just couldn't take the story seriously with some of the setup, continuity issues, and how the characters reacted to things at times. I really liked the idea and some of the characters were endearing, but everything else kind of ruined it for me unfortunately.
My imagination has mostly involved this time period and anthropomorphic characters, so I thought I'd give it a go and really develop it.
Thanks.

Hehe. You have a good sense of humor.
Oh, Flash can do a lot of cool things, it's all in the manner of how you use it. It helps that I went to school for 2D animation and have been working in the animation industry for a few years too.

Well, you can always do what I did. I had almost no money at all and wanted to go to school really badly for 2D animation, so I looked into get a student loan and went that route. Sure, I'll be paying it back for the rest of my life (not really but it's a helluvalongtime), but it's all been really worth it in the end. Not only did I learn a skill that I really like and can apply in the real world of animation, but it was also a great life experience for me. Living in a big city away from what I'm used to, having classmates from all over the globe, going out and exploring. One of the best years of my life.

Yep and already favorited it
Heh, I left the country too! Although it was only about 3 hours away from where I was born and raised. Born in Washington State (USA) and went to school in Canada (Vancouver, BC).

Wonderful animation! It's very expressive, which isn't something I see very often in flash animation.

It can be done, it's just a matter on how you animate.
Look at Bernard Derriman's stuff. He's my favorite Flash animator and he's very expressive with his simple characters, and that's just saying one out of many things that he does well.

Just today I realized that I follow the guy on twitter.

That's life as an animator for ya. Things on a large scale take longer to do, so whenever you think big also gotta realize that it's going to take a lot of time and dedication to do it. Focus is also essential. Probably why I have a lot of half finished projects at home outside the trade.
Thanks!

I love it! I love the fact that you gave their head a little extra oomph everytime they look behind them Also kudos on the voice acting (:

Yay! Thanks. I took some optional acting classes at school too. Everything in a film production is important, even the voice acting. If the quality isn't consistent from top to bottom in any part of the film, it'll stick out.
Head turns are tricky in flash. I "fake" them when I can, but sometimes, especially on slow ones, you have to spend a little extra time to make them look okay, which usually means shifting the features of the head around in a turn.
I love adding settle! The secondary action and bounce on the whiskers really make it seem fuller.

Hehe. Of course, what do I do? Make the lead antagonist CUTE. Actually he used to be cuter, but I gave him sharper features than what he had before and took away some of his roundness to try to give him more of an "edge".
Thanks for watching,
Sprybug.

I wish I had a whole team of people working on this to produce episodes faster, but it's just mainly me and some help here and there and that's about all, so it takes a long time to make just one of these. I hope to have chapter 2 out by summer. Thanks for liking it so much.

Thank you kindly. I try my best on every aspect. I've spent a lot of time developing the characters and have them drive the story. Although all you see is the main character's dream in the first chapter, it gives you an inkling into the character's anxiety into what is going on in his world. You'll get a better idea in chapter 2 (in development). The story from start to finish is pretty much set. I am considering doing a drawing or two for every chapter before I release the animated version, to help tide people over before it comes out.

It was a large task for sure. It took quite a long time, but special thanks go out to the people at the studio I work with for the support and giving me the drive to continue working on it. I hope I can get Chapter two out sometime this summer.
