This will be helpful. I have been playing around with copics for years, but have never really gotten them to look good.

Could you please name more pens for inking and colouring? Oh, and types of paper which will be good for this colouring technique? Where I live it's hard to find the stuff you mentioned, maybe there're another marks of pens, markers, pencils, and paper, which will be good for that?

This is good... thanks. I have always been admiring your work. It's very helpful of you to take time off to guide others via the insterspace.
Thanks again!

This is very helpful. Thanks!

I usually wait until I have done all the coloring and highlights, then I do the black outlining. Using colored artists pens and pencils smear the black India ink too much when I use them afterwords.
I use Speedball Black Magic india ink and old fasion pen holders and tips. It just makes me feel more professional and fine-artsy like! )

I'm way too young to have a PayPal, and my parents can't afford to go to Hobby Lobby right now, so any advice on what to use? (I have a set of 72 crappo pencils)

It doesn't matter what kind of materials you use, it matters how you use them.

What if they're like Crayola or something? When I color with those, they don't seem to look that great. Some brands are way better than others in my opinion. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just sayin

LiamLockheart In reply to TheSnowWolfeh [2010-11-24 05:35:04 +0000 UTC]
It really isn't the brand name, it's how you use it. I can get amazing effects from crayola pencils because I need to know how to use them since I can't afford the more expensive ones most of the time.
You work with what you've got. You just need to know how to work with it.

Crayola pecils aren't that bad, but i don't like the markers. They leave alot of white and thay dry out really quickly. I see what you mean though. I can work with anything, except for crayola markers.

I can use crayola markers. Not as markers though. I use them like watercolors.
Someone made a tutorial about it somewhere.
HERE IT IS!: [link]

Neither had I until I found that tutorial. It's a pretty neat idea.

LiamLockheart In reply to TheSnowWolfeh [2010-11-25 06:06:09 +0000 UTC]
So see what I mean? It's all in how you use the tools you have.
I won't deny that certain brands are better or worse than others, but I will say that it's all subjective. One person's "Crayola" is another person's "Prismacolor", if that makes any sense XD

I still prefer prismacolour, but crayola does have its uses

This helped a lot, thanks! Also, may I ask where you get/order the polychromos? I found some at a near by art store yet they didn't work as well. They were also like chalk. I was wondering if they sold them in pencil form like showed in one of the images. If so,where did you get them?
thanks :3
