Description
*BIG file*Here is the tutorial based on my previous work (I used it's PSD file for it). That's my own digital painting way and actualy a mix of different styles. The latest 14 works were made this way.
*I don't have Photoshop in english so I tried to translate all the options. I'm sorry if sometimes there is not prooper translation but I hope you will understand what I mean anyway
Hope it's clear enough. In case you don't understand something, feel free to ask question

You rock for making tutorials. Hmm I think my biggest prob at the moment is not being skilled with actual brushes like I just use the circlular brush with low flow but it leaves all these ugly circles sometimes but you barely see them. So on this tutorial you're saying I just need to adjust the sharpness of the brush?

Just remember not to use the first basic round brush, but the airbrush, which is soft and doesn't leave circular strokes at low flow. Yes, just set the options how I show here and should work. And even if it sometimes leaves circular strokes, you can use dropper to pick the middle color from them and then paint with it to cover those strokes.

Hmm I have Photoshop CS4 and I can't find shape dynamics or sharpness options anywhere. Also the circles are still a major issue even with airbrush selected. Actually circles are an issue no matter what the flow or opacity, even with 100% in both the outlines of the brush stroke are bumpy because it's just a bunch of circles. I really can't seem to figure out how some artists draw with such nice brushes as nothing I've tried, especially custom ones in DevianART made by wonderful artists, seem to work nicely for me.
The effect is looking great, like in the right direction at the moment, but man those circles are ugly haha

I don't have CS4 so I can't really explain D:
Sometimes at the early stage of painting, where you put the color first time, there are many of those circles. To erase them just use dropper (alt+click) to pick up the middle color from the pic, then you paint over mixing those two colors. Should help cleaning stroke.

Thank you for the great tutorial! I do have one question though. Can you clarify the brush sharpness setting? I'm using Photoshop CS5 and I do not see a sharpness setting under "Shape Dynamics." I looked on Google and it says the "hardness" setting adjusts sharpness, but I'm not getting results that look like your brushes. Thank you in advance!

I think "hardness" opton is the same one. I don't have CS5 unfortunately, so it's hard for me to explain that You can also check if you have marked "other dynamics" option, you may not get thesoft line effect without that option.

Very helpful and a great piece! Could you clarify the resizing process at the end>?

Tervola In reply to AdrianFW [2013-12-09 18:34:03 +0000 UTC]
It's better for the work quality if you resize work by steps. Use option "picture size" and resize by steps (for example, if your work is 3000 pixels wide resize to 2000 first, then to 1000).

I don't seem to be able to find that brush preset in my PS :/ can you tell me all the setting so that I can create it, or is there somewhere I can download it?
I can't remember if I commented here or not, but great tutorial, thanks!

In my PS the brush settings are to the right side of the top bar, there is such overlap called "brushes". You can make all the settings there. I use the basic brushes every PS has so you have them as well.
Thank you, I'm glad to hear it's useful

Powodzenia

i have one question , what colors are you have on brush when you do step 4 ? Black for multiply and white for overlay ?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Tervola In reply to Joky153 [2013-07-29 14:44:51 +0000 UTC]
No, I take similar colors to those in the background but not too dark or too bright. The shadows mostly are in purple/blue. The light is similar to main light color used in the background but set to more gray (since overlay option makes colors very intensive if they are too bright).
