*** This is technically a re-posting of this illustration. I plan to do so with all of my Potter art work, building up to (hopefully) having some new stuff to share there after. So if you feel like you've seen this before - you probably have. On the upside, I'm sharing it at a larger resolution and without the DeviantArt watermark on it now ***

In retrospect... I'd love to re-draw Hagrid for this piece. I don't hate the drawing - there are parts I like very much. But those who know me well, know I love Hagrid. I love illustrating him. But sometimes, excitement for drawing/painting a character turns into rushing. And looking back there are a couple aspects I rushed through. I'm not going to say what they are and risk "ruining" the painting for anyone else. Again, there is a lot about him that I really like. I''ll just say - he could be better.

I was very happy with the composition of the painting though. Hagrid and his size dominates the piece, but then you follow his eyes down to Norbert, which then leads you to the Trio (and Fang) - all experiencing Norbert's hatching in their own way. Then back to the window where we see Draco peeking in. OH, and my vision of Hagrid's hut is a little more homey than I think the average person see's it - especially thanks to the movies. Not much of it get's shown off, but enough to see it's a different place than most expect.
