Description [ Cover page for my MMD tutorials gallery ]

Thanks to the generosity of DonDeloro I was able to finally sort out the mess that existed here which made it hard to find tutorials easily. All the tutorials are now organized into sub folders titled by subject matter so it should be easy to find information that you need.

As always, I am open to suggestions for tutorials. If there's something with regards to MMD, PMD, Photoshop or SketchUp that you want to know about (and hasn't already been subject of another tutorial here on DA), please note me with your request and if I am knowledgeable on the topic I'll be happy to make a tutorial based on your request.

Cheers.

What's up Trackdancer, first off thanks for the quick response! I look forward to a tutorial on destructible stages. Oh by the way Trackdancer do you know of or have a recommended artist that has MMD Base models that can edited and redistributed given the model is completely altered? Like MMDFakewings18 for an example. Also I don't know about all of you but I say there needs to be more MMD Kio, TDA, and LAT Bases with reasonable sized eyes. Because man while it's cute at times though but if you all ask me way too many of these MMD characters have eyes that are unreasonably large. When I say large I mean good god man their eyes cover like half of their face lol!

Sorry, but I am dead against the practice of stealing other peoples' work and uploading them for download as bases. I feel that it is extremely disrespectful of the efforts of the original modeler except where this type of usage is expressedly permitted. To the best of my knowledge, no Japanese modeler allows this and people are taking wild liberties in interpreting their permission in allowing editing of their work.

Yeah I know what you mean about that Trackdancer. Oh man something told me that editing and using any of the MMD models for commercial purposes is totally not allowed. This is why I always check deeply within Google to find websites to see what people are saying about specific things I'm trying to know the answer to. Like in this case I surfed around Deviantart and compared it to what many of the other websites were saying about the editing of MMD models. So yeah the conclusion I came to is that MMD models are stolen and ripped from various sources without any creator's permission. So Trackdancer correct me if I'm wrong but MMD models are all stolen and ripped and therefore should not be used in something like a commercial game?

The majority of, if not all, Japanese made models for MMD are original works and are totally legal in the strictest sense. Most also are prohibited from use for commercial gain either because it is the wish of the modeler or there are other real legal constraints (such as the modeler not owning the license to the character portrayed).

Outside of Japan there are very few makers of original models for MMD. The only one I can think of, off the top of my head is Digitrevx . Most of my work is original also, but I only have the skill set to make simple stages. The DA MMDC seems focused only on making edits and honestly some of them are excellent and there are a lot of responsible editors who do respect the copyrights of others to the best of their knowledge. I have written some journals on the subject to help explain some of this to the community and it has had some impact.

But by the same token, there is a good proportion of the DA MMDC who, to put it nicely, are art thieves. All they want are high page view stats and if it means that stealing the work of others is a method to that end, they think nothing of it. It's part of the social media mentality where 'kids' just want instant fame without understanding the value of working to achieve it. So yeah, unfortunately it happens a lot on DA, and this has caused a lot of ill feeling towards the Overseas MMDC from our counterparts in Japan and understandably so.

As a policy, I don't support the DA MMDC art thefts, which is why I hardly ever use or collect DA edits. There are some editors that I trust and you can see the work of some of these in my MMD Model Reviews gallery. I am a big time supporter of people developing 3D modeling skills for making resources for MMD; it's one of the reasons why I have written so many tutorials about MMD.

You should've called her "Puchi IA" since she's a Puchi size.

Ā I appreciate and respect your work, Thank you for mentioning. Ā
I've got a question:
Is there a way the speaker membrane of digitrevx Stage
digitrevx.deviantart.com/art/N… -Stage-MMD-480395752
to move with the help of a vmd file?
The movement with the sliders seems to me in 6000 - 8000 frames quite a chore,
the motion of the membranes would look even more real.

Making Digitrevx 's stage speakers work with VMD Spectrum data is very easy. Simply relabeling the facials controlling the speaker animations 'band1, band2, etc." is probably the easiest solution.

Manually animating them up to a few thousand frames isn't hard to do either. By way of example, you create an animation sequence for the speakers that goes for (say) 250 frames. Make sure that the animation sequence can be looped. Then simply copy, paste the sequence data to how ever many frames you need. (This is all done in the groups list view window).

Thanks for your answer, and sorry for the long time I have not responded, I was a week on vacation.
Can you make a tutorial for it, so a picture tutorial?

Ah, good to know. Thanks.

Yup, it's neatly organised.
Now I can kick show the newbie to the related tutorials more easier.

Hopefully more people will search through them.

Thanks. Yeah, it makes more sense to organize them this way. It was a pain to find stuff even myself before.

*is happy*

Now that I think of it, no one did a tutorial on one of the most powerful PMX editor feature: CSV import/export. I was thinking of doing one, but I believe that it would have more visibility if you did it.

No, you go ahead - especially since I rarely use that feature.
