What does index copy mean?

It is a copy function.

maybe i haven't looked through properly but i've seen a model that changes it's hair from straight to curly with one of these facial sliders. is there a tutorial on that somewhere?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to kiritann [2018-04-19 00:51:18 +0000 UTC]

That kind of facial requires a different type of facial slider. MMD accepts several types of facials. The type that can change hair from straight to curly requires a morph/deform slider + a bone slider and the skill set required to make one of those is not generally within the capabilities of a beginner. There is probably a tutorial out there on making one of these but you will have to find one for yourself as I never wrote nor needed one.

The example used in the tutorial used a PMX format model. Does that answer your question?

How do you make her white?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to kittykatgirl1234 [2016-01-15 18:55:49 +0000 UTC]

Black = RGB (0,0,0)
White = RGB (1,1,1)

So simply change the values used.

i'm confused on WHICH values are supposed to be 1,1,1 because they all start out as 1 anyways

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to FrostyChica [2018-07-17 02:19:48 +0000 UTC]

The screen capture of the settings used in the tutorial illustrates the correct values to use (assuming a fade to Black).

i want to fade to white, but the instructions you gave are a little confusing

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to FrostyChica [2018-07-17 07:40:16 +0000 UTC]

The system can be confusing if you don't understand the method used by the PMXe to specify RGB colors.

It is a real pain to have to convert values from aΒ  0 to 255 range into a decimal value.

But if you understand the maths it is a really simple system.

Best to copy the values off of a model that has a fade to white slider if you're still confused.

One problem... The shadow for the model disappears after I slide it to turn of the silhouette....... Like the shadow on the floor....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to ufo123ism [2015-02-21 21:46:43 +0000 UTC]

That's interesting what you've reported. I've never noticed that, but then again I usually turn off the ground shadows as in general it's problematic.Β

Will have to duplicate what you're seeing to see what's causing it as off the top of my head, just changing the models colors shouldn't affect the shadow calculations at all.

I posted a video on my Youtube Channel: Its Meiko's Nostalogic.. You see. I wanted her to be a silhoutte for the first about 2 seconds then fade into her normal self, but after I didn't realize her shadow on the floor was gone until after posting the video xD So I went back in mmd to find the project. I loaded back the motion. The camera, etc, and the shadow was still gone..Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy1u1P… see for your self.

It could be anything, other than the slider, some MME effects will disable shadows. You know that right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ufo123ism In reply to Trackdancer [2015-02-27 15:00:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes I know that some MME effects disable it..I dont have effects on it... it only happened when I added the Silhouette

Trackdancer In reply to ufo123ism [2015-02-28 20:41:31 +0000 UTC]

I tried to duplicate what you're seeing and I'm not having any issues with the shadows disappearing with the slider in effect. On my system, the slider works fine and the shadow is not affected at all.

Thanks for that tutorial, needed something like that. Do you also know how to change the texture of a surface with a slider? Not RGB, but a texture file in the models folder?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 3

Trackdancer In reply to Fg-Constructions [2014-09-16 21:30:13 +0000 UTC]

I don't think it is currently possible to swap out the texture file. What is possible is to change the part of the texture file that is used and this allows variations to the texture of a surface to be controlled via a slider. Several of my models do use this feature and there is a tutorial in my gallery that explains how this can be done.

That said, in examining the PMX editor, the underlying architecture does actually exist for Β a texture file swap to happen but I haven't been able to figure out how to implement it and have never seen a Japanese model with this feature so most likely the function was never fully implemented.

Ehh... personally I never seen one done that before.

The only thing I tried was combining two of the PNG files into 1 then use the UV slider to change it.

BlakeJX In reply to Fg-Constructions [2014-09-15 12:09:06 +0000 UTC]

If I'm not mistaken, you can't change the target file name of the textures, however you can use this method.

Thanks for the tutorial.

Just for extra info, if you want to change the colour of the model after you used the slider, just add in 3 extra colour sliders

1) Do the same as above, making an Index Copy of the original
2) Go into the 'Material Morpth edit'
3) At 'Offset calculation formaat' select 'Pick Addition'
4) Next, set all digits into 0 by clicking 'all 0'

5) Okay, now add the following for each respective colour, for now make a red slider.

At the 'Material Colour' Box, go to 'Diff', below 'R' enter 1
Then, confirm the changes by selecting OK.

Repeat the process for the other 2 base colour (green, blue)
PS : You could just copy the 'red' slider and edit it after.

The slider function as a mix colour pallet, to get the colour you want aside the 3 base colour simply just move the slider to the corosponding number.
To make yourself easier, go to PMDe and select any of the material and pick the colour you want to see what the exact number it is.

This basically can be applied to many other things if you know what you are doing.
I used something slight different but similar for my rings so you can take that as a reference if you want.

That is all. :b
Hope ya have a nice day mate.
