Tuma is the youngest of Babu and Tamu's cubs, and unlike Imani, he's quite shy and soft-spoken. While Imani was happy to chat up the nearest creature available, Tuma was often hardly seen, and if so, he was usually hiding behind his mother. Tamu wasn't very fond of his behavior, encouraging him to socialize and interact with the others, but he adamantly refused and seemed almost scared of his pridemates. While Tamu was more used to giving tough love, Babu was usually the one trying to coax their son into new experiences and social situations through a gentle approach. Tuma was, to a fault, curious, but his shy nature usually meant he avoided new experiences all together, however it became slightly easier with his father's help. Still, he'd never do anything on his own, and was usually glued to his mother's or father's side. Despite all their differences, Imani and Tuma were extremely close, and Imani was determined to have her brother socialize with the others and make friends. To her credit, she did manage to drag him along on one of her adventures with the other girls, but it didn't have her intended effect; he was so quiet and shy, the others forgot about him, and when he refused to engage in conversation, they grew frustrated with him, and eventually their teasing led to him running away crying. Imani apologized profusely for the event, and never brought him on her excursions again, but none of this, in the end, solved Tuma's anxiety.
As they aged, Tuma somewhat mellowed out; he was, by no means, the friendliest cub in the pride, but he was able to keep short conversations. Through the love and support of his family, Tuma began to show more of his personality instead of hiding in the shadows; Tuma was, in fact, quite kind, almost too kind in his mother's eyes. He didn't have the heart for fighting, and even when playing with Imani, she almost always won. Tamu voiced her concerns to Babu, but he assured her that Tuma would eventually get the hang of it; as the boys began training to be guards however, it became clear how much Tuma stood out. He could patrol and follow scent lines, that was certain, but in their training bouts he almost always lost and didn't seem to put any heart into it. Babu soon became worried himself, for if Tuma wanted to be a guard, he needed to be able to defend himself. Babu tried to hide his worry, but Tuma quickly caught on and, not wanting to let him down, began working at his moves day and night to try and improve, even approaching Fujo for help. As time moves on, Tuma is slowly finding his feet in the pride, and is hoping to one day make his parents proud.

Now for sad boy with a big heart, Tuma! He just wants mom and dad to be proud of him while also living like a hermit; a guy can dream.
