Description
Someone was asking me how to pattern sleeves (since they aren't included in my draping tutorial), so here's a little mini-tutorial/addendum to my draping tutorial. This shows a very basic sleeve- there's a lot of variation in sleeve types and about a million different ways to do it (and not all of them are bell curves, actually). As you get into sewing and start to see more and more patterns, you'll start to get a feel for what kinds of flat shapes create what kind of 3D shapes, and then you'll be able to pattern all those other kinds of sleeves, too.
There are also books on flat-patterning that have (among other things) the shapes for all kinds of different sleeves drawn out with directions for fitting them to your garment. I highly recommend you buy one if you're going to be doing a lot of patterning.
