Description The great Autobot leader and the Last Prime, Optimus Prime, for my G1 reboot fanfic, "Transformers Beyond".

An updated/redrawn reference sheet of Beyondverse Optimus Prime, as I thought my old one wasn't that good as people thought it was.

Name: Optimus Prime

Overview: Optimus Prime, originally a mere civilian known as Orion Pax, is the awe-inspiring leader of the Autobot Commonwealth, chosen by the Creation Matrix of Leadership. Selfless and endlessly courageous, he is the complete opposite of his mortal enemy Megatron.

Voice Actor: Peter Cullen

Alternative Names/Designations: Optimus, Prime, Boss Bot, Big Bot, the Last Prime, O.P., Optronix, Convoy, Powermaster Optimus Prime, the Commander, the Big Buddha, Robo Jesus, Supreme Commander of Cybertron and the Autobot Commonwealth, plus a load of nicknames for Optimus Prime that we're not going to get into.
  • Pre-War Name(s): Orion Pax, Assistant Archivist

Alt-Mode: 1979 Freightliner WFT-8664T Cabover Semi-Trailer Truck with a 2011 Great Dane Everest TL Single-Temp Refrigerated Trailer

Gender: Male

Forged/Constructed Cold: Forged

Rough Age: 10 Million Stellar Cycles

Home Planet: Cybertron

Home City/Polity: Iacon

Species: Cybertronian

First Language: Neocybex (Standard Cybertronian), Iaconian Dialect

Caste: Administrative/Governmental, Archivist

Affiliation: Autobot

Occupation: Supreme Commander

Motto: "Freedom is the right for all sentient beings."

Personality: Optimus Prime is the largest, strongest, and wisest of all Autobots. As the last surviving member of the Prime Lineage, he feels that that his role is the protection of all lifeforms in the known universe, including organic life, as he opposed Megatron's grand scheme of using the AllSpark to transform Cybertron into an interstellar juggernaut to conquer the universe. While Optimus always has a calm demeanor, he's filled with many burdens brought by his position as Supreme Commander of Cybertron and the Autobots. First was ejecting the AllSpark into deep space, leading to Cybertron to slowly decay. Another is bringing the Transformers' conflict to Earth. Every casualty, human or Cybertronian, weighs heavily on his spark. He does not show this side to his soldiers and never succumbs to despair. The Autobots need a decisive, charismatic leader and that is what he gives them.

Optimus Prime's Proxies:
1) Godbomber:
Godbomber is a guard unit drone created by the scientists of the Autobot Elite Guard to serve as a personal battle partner/power-up for their leader, Optimus Prime. He's merely a drone with no spark of his own, but possesses some degree of sentience in order to perform tasks that require thinking. Godbomber acts like a by-the-book soldier to Optimus Prime, extremely loyal to his superior officer, who he often refers to as his "Commander". Bonded with Prime's mind, he responds to his orders and can be commanded to perform combat functions. His standard alt-mode is that of a Cybertronian Armored Trailer. Godbomber is composed of multiple component parts, which disassemble and reconfigure into his assorted modes. His components include the "God Wing", the "God Punch", the "God Legs", and the "God Breast", which connect to Optimus Prime in his Powermaster Armor to transform him into Godmaster Optimus Prime.

2) Roller: Roller is a scout car that Optimus Prime uses to slip unobtrusively behind enemy lines. He can maintain radio control over Roller at distances up to 1200 miles. Having Roller present somewhere is like being there himself. Roller is non-verbal, able to speak through binary beeps and chirps. Roller is a droid, able to function autonomously without Optimus's active oversight. But without Optimus, Roller would not survive. Optimus shows great attachment and concern for Roller, who is left particularly vulnerable by the behind-the-scenes situations in which it specializes. Roller resembles a 2017 Smart Vision EQ Fortwo Concept.

3) Hi-Q: Hi-Q is a Nebulon, a techno-organic humanoid from the planet Nebulos. A genius in computer programming and design, he's renowned by his peers back on Nebulos. The Hi-Q Industrial Research Complex, named after him, produced many technological innovations that dramatically improved the quality of life on the planet. Despite his intellect, Hi-Q can get a bit stuffy sometimes, but he's a pretty stand-up being. Definitely more of a thinker than a fighter, he provides Optimus Prime with more than just Powermaster energy. Scientific skill, wisdom, and sage advice are perhaps his greatest contributions.

Weaponry/Equipment:

  • Ion Blaster Rifle: The ion blaster rifle serves as Optimus Prime's signature weapon. Only used by the Autobot leader when all attempts at peace have failed, the ion blaster ensures that freedom is the right of all sentient beings, and strikes fear in the sparks of Decepticons who are foolish enough to challenge him.
  • Energon War Axe: Optimus uses an energon-bladed rocket-powered axe with an extendable hilt as a signature weapon and for transport. He can summon from his personal subspace storage pocket. He uses it quite efficiently, violently ripping apart endless Decepticon soldiers.
  • Dual Energon Swords: Optimus possesses energon swords in each arm. He charges the swords via a quantum electric generator with a max yield of one thousand degrees Celsius and a burn rate of five kilojoules per second.
  • Powermaster Armor: Prime also has a Heavy Armored Trailer that he can combine with to assume his Powermaster Armor, giving him increased firepower and strength. (Link: Coming Soon)

Weaknesses: Physically there's nothing that's holding Optimus Prime back. Emotionally, though...well. Prime's spark is in the right place, but sometimes that compassion can make him vulnerable to someone more ruthless like Megatron. Of course, if he didn't care about innocent life, he wouldn't be Optimus Prime. He also feels pain if one of his proxies are damaged. (Edit: 2/13/21)

Bio: Optimus Prime was forged under the name Orion Pax 10 million years ago, his Spark was ignited in a lone hot spot deep inside a cavern in a remote area of Iacon's territory. He was eventually discovered by Senator Torenia of Iacon, who came upon him by accident following a quake that caused the ferry she was riding to crash to shore. Torenia took it upon herself to harvest the little Spark with some Sentio Metallico (aka living metal or Transformium) and assist in the deep coding herself until help arrived. After their rescue, Orion Pax was then sent to a hatchery, where Torenia continued to keep tabs on the Hatchling, from his early stages to his maturation two weeks later. Noted to be an usually large newborn by the hatchery's workers, Orion's transition into adulthood was witnessed by chief recordskeeper and storyteller Alpha Trion, who felt the young bot would one day be the subject of great stories.

From a young age, Pax excelled in intellectual pursuits, graduating from the Institute for Higher Programming and enrolling in the Academy of Science and Technology. During his time at the Academy, he met his girlfriend Ariel and his best friend Dion. After graduation, Orion would work as Alpha Trion's assistant archivists at the Hall of Records, while Ariel enlisted into the Cybertronian Elite Guard and Dion became a police captain in the Rodion Transtech Department.

During the Age of Order (Functionist Era), Orion would read and index information in the Hall of Records from the Communications Grid, but he was forbidden to analyze it as it was the job of cultural investigators. Despite this, he had an easy life during the caste system. His truck alt-mode allowed him to keep his job as an archivist and allowed him a wider range of options than most bots if he wished to change jobs. Orion Pax was content with life. He lived in one of the better-off parts of Iacon, had a well-paying honest job, had his friends, was occasionally visited by his mother figure Torenia, became Alpha Trion's top employee, and his alt-mode allowed him some respect as a middle-class citizen.

But that all changed when Orion began monitoring transmissions from a gladiator and a former miner from the city-state of Tarn named Megatronus. Eventually, he began a secret correspondence with Megatronus because he agreed with his beliefs. They had intense but friendly debates over the nature of free will and the dangerousness of their ideals, and Megatronus suggested Orion how to fight for his beliefs. Orion began training with Dion, learning to fire an ion blaster rifle and to fashion an axe and swords from the subspace storage pocket.

Orion made his first trip to Tarn to meet Megatronus in person at his base. Megatronus was the only gladiator who gave Orion a warm welcome. After a few talks with Megatronus here and there, Orion Pax ceased being oblivious as he became more aware of the world around him. He paid more attention to the news and grew concerned. He traveled to the Badlands (Kaon, Tarn, Slaughter City, etc.) and other parts of Cybertron that he had never been to before where he saw several incidents of classism and racism. He met people, asking questions and wondering how he can solve the problem. During one of his travels at Tarn, he met Elmeth, Megatronus' lover and a beastformer who resided in the Church of Mortilus. Orion's wandering eventually led him to speak with Alpha Trion of the political turmoil of Cybertron, and of the events of their planet's history to better understand why things were the way they were. Alpha Trion would mentor Orion, and over time Orion Pax changed from a simply curious data clerk to a dignified mech who wanted to change the world for the better.

Terrorists, referring themselves as "Decepticons", began bombings in Megatronus' name, and he made his first public announcement on the Grid, stating he was not responsible for the attacks and would bring the perpetrators to justice. Orion followed him up with a speech of his own. Orion trusted Megatronus, believing if he were responsible for the attacks, he would have wanted to be associated with them. However, in reality, Megatronus had heard rumors about the bombings but did nothing to prevent them.

Because of his association with Megatronus, the Senate sent a gang of their thugs to kill Orion at the Hall of Records. The Senate thugs kill two of Orion Pax's colleagues, Springarm and Wheelarch. Fully convinced now that Megatronus' belief in the corruption of the Senate and the High Council was true, Orion took his attackers down with a mix of righteous fury and tactical skills, and then forced his way into the Grand Imperium. There, he made a defiant speech to the Senate, saying his eyes had been opened by Megatron. In his rant, Orion revived the ancient philosophical phrase "Autobots" to describe the autonomy his brethren sought. He would touch the hearts of many civilians who watched this, but he would be forcibly removed from the building. But Orion's speech had succeeded in reaching one of the Senate's members: Senator Shockwave of Protihex, who had for some time been searching for prospective new candidates to help free Cybertron from the Senate's corrupt stranglehold. Arranging for Orion's release, Shockwave had his injuries repaired and a cavity for the Creation Matrix of Leadership added to his body, and the pair began working together in secret. (Edit: 3/2/21)

In the dark times that followed, the Senate initiated the Clampdown and enacted the Decepticon Registration Act, and the Decepticon Movement now led by Megatronus (who would shorten his name to "Megatron") grew in strength. During this time, Orion Pax formed a team of freedom fighters against their planet's corrupt government who called themselves the Autobots. Among the most notable of Orion Pax's early recruits included his friends Ariel and Dion, who had long grown sick of the status quo. There would also be a few newcomers, young and old idealists eager to fight, such as Ratchet, the Senate's former Chief Medical Officer, Ironhide, an elderly and headstrong veteran of the Second Cybertronian Civil War, Jazz, a cultural investigator from Tyger Pax who like music, Shadowkat, a former member of the terrorist group Sons and Daughters of Cybertron, Skyfire, a young Seeker femme from Vos, and a quartet of Outliers made up of Skids, Damus (who would later become Tarn), Windcharger, and Trailbreaker. Even some on the side of the law joined Orion Pax, such as the police officers Roller, Prowl, Chromedome, and even the commander of the Elite Guard Sentinel Prime and his right-hand Magnum. (Edit: 3/15/21)
