I love this, it's so seductive, and suggestive. I like this lack of nudity, and i love the colors of that blanket, i hope to own one like that one day.

thank you, it was a breakthrough piece for me, everyone seemed to want to own it, and now someone does. Hopefully I can back up with something else as popular, though I personally think my newest (of Sally) is a step up, you can't beat the red

My god this is good. How you captured such a sense life in a dawing with nothing, but traditional tools, is stunning. Lovely job. You prove that us techheads still can't beat good old sketching skills with our 3D toys

Jumprabbit In reply to yoroba [2006-07-26 03:59:24 +0000 UTC]
Well thank you for saying so, I personally think 3D and trad art are all part of the same thing, it's more about which method suits you personally, and what you have to say with it in the end

A very Rembrandt-like use of chiaroscuro. And that red just pops. Simply gorgeous, JR. Definitely a +fave (as most of your work has been ).

Thank you
I actually used Rembrant Oils paints for the first time in this painting, so I'm happy with your choice of words

I'm loving this the more and more I see it. Spectacular... you should be very proud.
I myself started and completed 2 paintings this weekened. Wish the digital camera didn't move out with Jasmine. I can't take pics of them. One I did in 45 minutes.... my! I am happy with it. It's a close up of a corset very paintily for me. And I like it. The other is much bigger and I did it in 2 and a half hours which shocked me..... one of the better I've done I think. Not the best... but good. I like it a lot.

Thank you, the original is of course vastly better then the photo. so yeah would like you to actaully see one of them one day
Glad to hear your back behind the brush, I myself will be again this afternoon, been working 7day a week doing gigs, including the Abbey thing, which was fun, Liz has been staying with us but shes gone now, got some good shots of her, so she wil be on the canvas at some stage soon. I'm just glad to have some time of at last.

its the kind of piece that brings a tear to the eye, not through jealousy or dislike, but because you have captured a moment so well and created so much emotion from a painting.
Your brush work is phenominal and you havent skipped the detail in the cloth and the background which im very guilty of, one of the only peices that ive looked at that i can say "its perfect"

Jumprabbit In reply to Leishman [2006-07-15 02:31:06 +0000 UTC]
Thank you for saying so, I'm still a bit surprized how well this one worked, wasn't nearly as hard as a lot of others. The original painting is of course much better, everyone seems to want it, I've kept it for myself thus far, sooner or later I will be offered enough money to part with it I'm afraid...eeP!
Sorry I've taken so long to reply, been working 7 days a week lately, finished now, and I'll be back to painting soon!
yay!
