I basically skimmed over the items needed, how much AU dollars do you think id have to spend on all of this?

Kita-Angel In reply to LordSarito [2011-04-27 13:37:19 +0000 UTC]
Hard to say. I don't know if the prices are exactly the same or close for you, but if I go with prices here and just get a bit of everything to start, minus the markers, it costs me about 55$ Canadian, which is literally 2$ more than AU currency. Copic markers are 8$ each, so a small set of 24 isn't far from 200$ and a full set of all the colours at least 10x more. My advice, start with what you need and save up. I always save up and buy in bulk later. C:

Guh, This is super helpful.. I'm starting a manga too but I keep getting scared every time I start which has brought here. i thought maybe if I stocked up on extra manga making knowledge it'd get rid of my fear of doing everything wrong.
Hand sanitizer thing is genius. I hate it when I smudge too.. and I need to get that white pen... eAeHave everything but that white pennnn. Where do I get?

Sorry for the late reply D:
Well for some quick advice: don't stop drawing. The more you draw, the better you get. Practice makes perfect right?
Extra knowledge always helps. You can "know your stuff" but even re-reading and re-learning can help. I like reading comics to inspire myself, and some I have read a MILLION times. I even have a bunch of "how to draw" books and I re-read them a lot, and pick up ideas and new stuff each time.
Trying new materials: I love it. It's like an artistic science expirement. Smudging makes me cry. White pen... usually in Staples ooooor other office stores. Or sometimes art stores. You live in Canada right? (As per your profile) Ever heard of Omer deSerres? Awesome art store, they have a website. White gelpens (Sakura Gellyroll) are great too!
Hope that helps!

Never heard of Omer deSerres. Maybe I'll look et up. oAo
Always nice to know where the art stores are at, no? =w=
But I found one of those whgite pens at an Opus art store. They really are useful~
And thanks for the advice, every little bit counts. ^w^

This is probably the most helpful 'how to draw manga' I've seen. Do you know where to get Copic markers in the U.S.? Or a website that has them really cheap? I'm sad I can only afford Prismacolors at the moment..... Thanks so much!!

Thanks! Glad you find this helpful!
Sorry for the late reply. Copic... in the US I am not sure. I live in Quebec Canada and I even have to buy online or road trip to buy mine.
[link] <- They have sets of 72 markers at like, 45% off. TOTALLY worth saving up. If not... eBay I guess?

This is really awesome i can really understand it perfectly! Have you tried pro makers?:3 they are really good even though the have a smaller range of colors compared to copics.
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
Kita-Angel In reply to Pyrope-Pirate [2011-04-27 13:32:29 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I used to have a bunch. I personally found they didn't blend as ell as I needed, but that was something that became a need over time. Aside that, they're awesome and not as pricey. C:
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Pyrope-Pirate In reply to Kita-Angel [2011-04-28 03:51:00 +0000 UTC]
Yea, there is a problem that they don't blend well and they smell, but they the only ones that I can afford >.<"
But if i had to chose copics over pro markers I'd chose copics XD

how much do you think all of your Copic Markers cost to get that many....and where? i know some places but you might have a better one
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kita-Angel In reply to EvilAnimeCupcake [2010-07-23 16:24:11 +0000 UTC]
If you buy all four sets of 72 copic markers, it can cost roughly 2400$.
I found this website where you can buy the sets at about 45% off, meaning altogether it cost me about 1200$ to get the markers, which is in fact equivalent to two weeks of my paycheck, or two months of savings...
But you're also a premium member, premium members on deviantart geta discount on Copic things too on DickBlick .com, so if you find that buying a whole set of 72 markers is too much, (300$) then you can go there and theres a copic section where we get an additional 10% off what their discounted price is.

Omg you have soooooooooooooooooo many copics.Where did you find the money to but them all?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kita-Angel In reply to bigcoolboy96 [2010-07-14 02:31:36 +0000 UTC]
Yeah it's a lot. I actually made a health insurance claim, and they slacked off and only gave me my money after I had started working again, so not only did I have a normal pay to get the bills paid, but I also had this random extra.
So normally I wouldn't have gotten them all so quickly, but I probably would have been able to buy at least half of that without the insurance. I had some savings aside specifically for copics.

Kita-Angel In reply to layloveanime [2010-07-06 15:34:06 +0000 UTC]
Rest of my inking pens I thought at an art store in my hometown, they have a good amount of everything. The white pens too. Actually, some of the white gel pens and poster pens I got could probably be found easier in scrapbooking stores.
