So thank you for these tutorials...I'll do my best!! *I have to live up to them.....sigh*
Such a long way in front of me...*sqeeks*

heres another tip that could help out just a bit:
(i use photoshop 7 and cs2, but i think it works on cs too, cos my 2 versions are quite similar)
to the left of the new layer button in the layers tab, there is a button that looks like a folder, which creates layer sets, which you can drag your other layers into. i use this to group together, for instance, hair, eyes, skin, clothes, bg etc.
its a lot easier to find your layers that way! (and if you click on the blue arrow, it closes the set so you can just see the layer set in the layers tab, meaning you dont have to scroll and can have the layers tab smaller on the screen)

Wow! This tutorial helped me out the most. Especially with the clothing. I've tried shading with clothing before starting with cell, but it always turned out messy and jagged. The magic of your smudge tool helped me realise that things may start out akward and unsure, but if you find the right tools, you can turn it into something great! Your tutorials helped me a lot, and I'm sure I'll be using tips in this one to improve myself. And I like how you answered the 'Q&A' section of this tutorial. It really helps when one can relate to another artist. It reminds me that everybody starts out somewhere, and everyone has difficulties and learns.
Thanks a lot! ^_^ I feel much better now

Awesome... Mine's already looking very good! I'm testing different styles to color my own works.
If you dislike backgrounds/clothes, try doing them first. Then you have the skin and hair to look forward to. (Personally I'd always save the eyes and hair for last, but I was following this tutorial today, so. XD) If you have nothing to look forward to, and just want to finish your picture, your background might come out sloppy because of the attitude you're having when working on it.
Something I learned from *ursulav

twisted666 In reply to nemutai-kunoichi [2005-11-19 11:10:55 +0000 UTC]
Well... I might try that, but I usually get bored with one pic really fast, so if I draw the background first, I may not be able to finish anything at all! *^___^* Yes, but thank you for the suggestion, it's definitely another option.

If you start out with the background it's still not any more fun, I admit... XD; But I do it anyway cause it'll make me do less sloppy shit.
Although I still suck ass at backgrounds.

I've viewed/tried over 15 tutorials in my day and your's are, by far the best that I've seen. I could see how they would be helpfull to both beginners and people who have been using photoshop since version 2.0 (ie. myself) One thing I really liked was your describing what settings you were using for brushes etc. the opacity/flow leves are really important, and your the only person I know who has intigrated them into their tutorials. well done.
