========================================
APPEARANCE AND WORKING WITH THE THEME
My lion mac osx style work is not just a theme. With new code added to Windows system files , Windows becomes behaving like Mac OS X .
When forinstance we select a folder as 'icon', we have separate mouse over image for the folder and other image for the text.
When we select a folder as 'details' we can have stripes, and mouse over images like mac os X , blue hover and white text .
With additional code added to shell32.dll the Preview Pane setted to Top, and Details Pane setted to right (like to osx) .
Also Folderband (is the command bar i which is written 'Organise', 'Open' etc) is included to the preview pane.
That means that if we press to the keyboard Alt+P Preview pane appears --> also Folderband at the top of Preview pane.
Now via Folderband we can select 'Organise' -->' layout' and then select which pane we want to appear (for example we select Details pane) or deselect that we dont want.
if we want to dissappear Preview Pane we press again to the keyboard Alt+P .
Attention: if both Preview Pane and Details Pane are appeared, then we will have this kind of appearance:
Details pane will give the preview of the current file or folder we select with our mouse and also the details text description of it
Preview pane will give the preview of the folder that contains the selected file or folder. [except if the current file is a text or music file or video]
now if we want to have to the Preview pane the preview of the current file or image etc we must first close the Details pane.
Also, if we like to have always shown the Folderband just open the preview pane and set the vertical slider at his minimum position to the top[so no more space to be used].

This theme is for a 64bit windows system, so go first to
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System
and see if to the System type is written 64bit.
Then :
I suppose that you use the system files of this theme ok, you have to replace but not delete, the 64 bit explorerframe.dll to C:\Windows\System32
but you must also download the 32bit version of explorerframe.dll from
and you have to replace but not delete, the 32 bit explorerframe.dll to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
But i think if I remember well that those are the bitmaps of explore.exe ie is the Start button bitmaps.
So go to C:\Windows and replace the file named 'explorer' using the process described to instructions (taking ownership), rename and copy paste the new one, and
ALso download the 32bit version of explorer from
and you have to replace but not delete, the 32 bit explorer to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
---------------
What I suppose is the problem.
I don't know if you use any 3RD party application for changing the start button, and this one conflict with the replacing of the explore files.
So to this case it may uninstall that program, and make 2 times restart , then change the files, and see if they work.
This I suppose that is the problem. Before doing anything do a restore point.

I'm kinda messed up with the Windows Color, it is set to Windows Classic, I don't know what went wrong but I copied the right files in the right folders. Trying to figure it out but still can't. The Desktop Background and Sounds are working fine, except for the Taskbar. Thanks if you can fix

Here's a picture of the desktop. I just can't figure the taskbar out. :/ But when I return it to Windows 7 theme what happens is that only the Start button becomes an Apple sign. otherwise everything is still window-ish taskbar.

Sorry but I am out of deviant art , i am too old, anyway your problem is simple.
There 2 things that could happen.
1. the most common is that because of a microsoft update have made the uxstyle patcher not working<> so i assume that you use UxStyle from uxstyle.com
now be carefull, even if it does not work you have first to uninstall it, otherwise it can not be repaired, so go to :
Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
uninstall UxStyle
restart your system.
install UxStyle
restart your system
go to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
select aero,
then select any other theme. that;s it
------------------
2. in very rare cases we have also to re change the system files, if those replaced by a microsoft updaTE> but this is a very rare case> (to win 8.1 i have bypass this, but not to 7)
BuT the most possible is that the most common is the 1. first case , for your problems.

if you have any such problem, go to your system to C:\Windows\System32 and rename the new shell32.dll to shell32.mac and rename the shell32.old [
so you will loose some of the benefits that gives the code of my theme, but i believe then your IE will work perfect, if not then the problem it would not be from those, so you can rename again the files, if so.> only to some systems, have problem like that you mention, not all, [< if that really was the reason of ie]
best changing of the system files is when the system is complete new, with no application installed, or after a re installation [for any reason ] of windows>that does not mean as i mentioned that problems appeared if doing otherwise> just this is my recommendation.

Hello ! after a long while I decided to use this visual style again. I´m using it right now and I am absolutely satisfied with But everytime when I change the ExplorerFrame.dll , I get some random errormessages "Class Not Registered" it happens mainly when I want to use my Dock software ( ObjectDock or Rocketdock ) so, When I change the ExplorerFrame.dll I can not open any dock item anymore.
I tried to registered for myself -> regsvr32.exe ExplorerFrame.dll = ERROR !
Is there anything I can do to get it FULL working ? I really like the Mac "Behavior" for example, The distance between the explorer icons is much bigger which is really useful ( it looks very clean and tidy ) .
So, do you have any tipps for me ?

applications do not affect with explorerframe.dll , shell32.dll perchaps, use the original shell32.dll and see if that helps.

before doing any changes to the system, before even to take permissions of the system files we must first do this:
go to Control pane [view by category] -->so Go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify.
Restart
then we take permissions of the original files then we rename their extention from .dll to .old or to .original and we copy paste the new ones.

do u have change the explorerframe.dll ?
this gives the stripes appearing, if no stripes appear it is possible via a microsoft update , microsoft replace your exploreframe.dll so you have to take permissions and then replace again the explorerframe.dll of your system32 folder with the one of my pack.
.'
except if u mean something other , though to both of your screenshots i see the stripes, so i cant understand what exactly you dont see.

we never delete the system files, we take ownership of them, then we rename the originals, forexample the shell32.dll to shell32.original or shell32.old or shell32.1 etc then you copy paste the new system files.
when we say replace we mean this i described you. ownership and rename the files we like to replace, and after rename them , we paste the new files[new files are those i give you to this pack]

well it looks great except of one thing that i like very much in the previous versions.
in the explorer i want to have the look with the information bar at the bottom.
now it's always on the right side and it seems you cannot get rid of that.
i allready tried to replace the explorer.exe from the old pack but no luck at all.
hope you can help me to fix this problem. i am a huge fan of your work and willing to donate if things work out well.

Hello i am currently using a 64bit sp1 have followed exactly as what the instructions said in the txt file attached and here:
1. Take ownership of ALL the required files
( explorerframe, shell and imageres in C:Windows\System32,
explorer.exe in C:Windows,
explorerframe, shell, imageres and explorer.exe in C:Windows\SysWOW64 )
2. Replace explorerframe, shell, imageres and explorer.exe from the 32-bit dll files downloaded into SysWOW64. All seems to be ok.
3. There seems to be a backup of explorer.backup in my C:Windows so i double clicked and run it, so that i can simply replace the other explorer.exe with the one from the downloaded 64-bit dll files.
Problem is each time when i place explorerframe, shell and imageres of System32 from the 64bit DLL files, it doesnt seem to paste & i cant see the new files inside System32. Next, i tried to replace the new explorer.exe in C:Windows but everytime when i paste the laptop screen will flash then it says cannot replace as it is being used.
I tried to restart the comp when the usual windows loading screen will turn dark, i suppose its because i replaced the SysWOW files? And each time when it starts it will just say that shell.dll is missing which is preventing me from starting.
LUckily i have created a system restore earlier so now i can just restore it. I have restored my comp 3 times and this is making me very frustrating.
That means basically now i have the 2 problems: cannot replace 64bit dll into C:Windows\System32 & cannot replace explorer.exe. I really like this theme it's getting quite a good review on youtube so please help me out Zeus. Thank you
Regards.

usually this happen because you have to go to Control pane [view by category] -->so Go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify.
Restart
if you do not do this it will appear problems such u describe.
so if you dont do this the files even if u set copy paste they never paste ----------------------------------

this is the microsoft blur.
because grey styles, in leopard/ lion style have no border, to the place where was the edges of the aero window, i have setted the shadow [or on past i have nothing setted] so it appears that microsoft blur.
now we can solve this in 2 ways.
the first is go to your C:\Windows\Resources\Themes and select the theme lion. do this another time, so you have to do it 2 times, because if you dont windows shadows etc looking does not changing properly [thats another problem on windows]
now i have setted the values for see as possible the less blur. but if you dont satisfied go to Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Window Color and Appearance press 'show color mixer' and go to the brightness slider and set it so as possible not is visible the blur.
the second solution is to disable the blur , using a freeware utility like Windows 7 Aero Blur Tweaker [link] so this is the best for, i just explain you the why happened.

a question: if I change logonscreen, for what I use LogonStudio, as I could then replace the defualt background image in imageres.dll?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ZEUSosX In reply to 1Eres [2012-02-11 08:06:43 +0000 UTC]
well, i supose ( as i dont use 3rd party applications as my laptop is old so if i use many applications system becomes heavier,) that with LogonStudio you have many choices to change every time you want your log in background.
[if you do it manually change the wallpapers that i have change not others]
=========
for me log on is important as a wellcome screen who makes me feel 'happier' when open my system or when log on, but is not so much important for changing it recent or ever. so if you like to change it recent and you bored to do that manually then you can use a 3rd party appication such as the LogonStudio.
as you see i did nt use an apple wallpaper in log on , also many of my design elements, buttons, surfaces etc based ofcourse to osx ideas, but i made in my style different, not because of other reason but because i based to the originals but i gave my version for them, as also one food combination i like is the transparent styles having in basic aero brushed surfaces.
i like the smaller min, max, close buttons from lion osx, but i preffer the color of the mouse over in navogation pane of snow leopard style. (its more clear, less mood, more happier, in my taste) so what i mean is that i use my personal taste for what is beautifull and i also modify the originals for looking as i want. [ofcourse i have given some versions which are nearer to the original osx looking as some users asked me, but my view is different as i explained]

I totally agree with you, in fact I really like the Mac OS customization that you gave to your theme ZeusOSX.
Rightly you have inspired the theme for Mac OS without making a trivial copy of it, but with your own interpretation. I think the same and I really like the theme . We fell in same way on this matter.
Think different
But in the LogonStudio window logically default logonscreen is not there, so let me know in case I will change it in future, then how can I reset it, because I like very much it and I would not miss it.
And for the IE9 mod no hope?
