Edit: Part II (digital inking) now available!: [link]Also, eyes tutorial: [link]
Starring Cloud from Advent Children!
Yes, I know that sometimes sketches are Never So Clean as they are in this case... I'll talk about digital inking sometime in the near future in another tutorial. But this is for those who sketch cleanly or who go back and clean up their pencil sketch by erasing and redrawing the lines.
Feedback appreciated! (was it clear? more/less detail? What other stuff would you like to see?)

Will placing different colors in different areas work?

joulee In reply to dipstikk [2006-03-05 06:49:11 +0000 UTC]
you mean on the same layer? Yeah, but i find that putting different colors adjacently on the same layer causes trickiness if you're going back to shade/change them later ^_^

ooh, thanks! I've always done a pretty good job filling my pencil sketches, but you seem to have developed a method that is cleaner, easier to modofy, etc. Thanks!!

Cool Tutorial! Interesting drawing style. Dunno how you created such a looooooooong pic, but it really is cool that you could keep the tutorial as one image instead of several installations.
Faved. Great job on the tutorial!

lol~ well, this may end up being one of several installation on cleaning up line art in general, using various techniques. ^___^ Yep, a looooooooong picture. I have to keep adding to it once it runs out of space. XD

It really helped me with the "fuzzifying." I think you should also explain a little about curves and levels, if you use that at all, and just a very short explanation on the shading.

joulee In reply to ladybow69 [2006-03-03 20:05:31 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for your suggestions! I don't really use curvels and levels although I know that some people do... Maybe a thing about shading would have been good, but I figured I have coloring tutorials that explain in much more depth.
