There is a saying in sewing, "Measure twice, cut once." which says two things to me, (1) once you've cut your material there's no going back! and (2) planning heavily in this stage will help you avoid un-fixable problems later in the future.

Well thats a good saying to have. =3 I dont really sew too much... I would like to... but fabric and supplies are expensive and cost money that I just dont have.

When you told me how many yards you used, did you mean per wing or for both?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Sunnybrook1 In reply to ManiacalMuffins [2011-02-14 02:46:23 +0000 UTC]
Huh, good question. Hmmm...I think I meant per wing, so you'll need twice that amount. Nothing bad about getting too much fabric I suppose...

ManiacalMuffins In reply to Sunnybrook1 [2011-02-14 03:06:35 +0000 UTC]
I believe the amount you gave me was about ten yards per wing, are you sure?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Sunnybrook1 In reply to ManiacalMuffins [2011-02-14 08:33:24 +0000 UTC]
No - I'd suggest buying 10 yards to start, then buy more if you need to~

Also, about the polypropylene webbing, where did you find it? Based purely on a Google search I can only seem to find it online, & I'd really rather be able to find it at a hardware store or something. Is there an alternative in case I can't find any? I found polypropylene rope but I doubt that'd work the same...

I found it on spools at JoAnns, near the ribbons, but any fabric store should carry it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Sunnybrook1 In reply to KyaStar [2010-11-30 21:44:47 +0000 UTC]
The most money I've found goes into the fabric (which I use yards & yards of...) so it depends on the quality of fabric...
So, lemme get back to you on that~
