Special Effects Tutorial!: [link]
LineArt & SAI Tutorial: [link]

UPDATE 7/17/09: I added a shortcut to the "Alternate Method" for Preparing the Lineart (And elaborated on that a little bit) to the Table of Contents (The place where all the Red Buttons are in the beginning) This would most likely be targeted to people using Photoshop Elements, OpenCanvas---any Program that does not have the ability to split Channels.

I also added a section to change things back to RGB after the Lineart Preparation. This page is BEFORE the Flats, after the "Alternate Method". Thank you readers for reminding me to put it in

If this tutorial is helpful, please tell other people about it!

I finally finished it! The file is around 7 megabytes, but I hope it'll be worth the download! I kind of aimed it toward Beginners, but there's a lot of more "complicated" stuff in there too.

Use the LEFT and RIGHT keys on your keyboard to flip through the pages, and then use the UP key to return to the table of Contents.

IF THE KEYS DON'T WORK then just click on the image first and THEN use the keys.

Enjoy!!

Wave, my magic wand select my lineart horribly, I did the lineart with vectors in sai so It canΒ΄t be "dirty", IΒ΄ve change the tolerance but magic wand do not select all space as you in your tutorial. what happens?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

suzuran In reply to Garzazu1 [2012-11-10 05:12:48 +0000 UTC]

Make sure you have the specific settings for the magic wand on!

Specifically "Sample All Layers" so it tells the wand that you want it to also keep the lineart in mind.

And also "Contigious", so that it doesn't just select all of the same color

suzuran In reply to plmethvin [2012-10-16 14:53:33 +0000 UTC]

Are you using Photoshop elements? If so, it doesn't load selection because elements doesn't have the ability to split channels >_< Try the alternate method!

and on the tutorial with the same image i cant get passed the Undo!Undo! then Select->Modify->Expand part, when i do the expand the selection and coloring goes over the middle lines of hair because they somehow got to be gray and not black(from default image), any idea whats wrong? i did everything as in the tutorial too

Oh okay If the lines after you do "expand selection" show up too far past the lines that you want to color inside, then just reduce the expansion to 1 pixel... or if it's even expanding too far with just 1 pixel, then try to see if not expanding at all will help you (your lineart just might be too thin!)

KibaPandaRo [2012-07-30 19:02:30 +0000 UTC]

if uhm lets say we dont have a scanner but we would like to collor a manga thats already uploaded but not with really HD lineart, what can we do about that? for example [link] (picked random first uncollored page of a manga i read), would this be ok for colloring? or it should be made purely only B&W? if B&W how can i erase the gray things like shadows or textures? btw great tutorial<3
