PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE 64 BIT of this page VERY CAREFULLY.
THE SYSTEM FILES OF YOUR SYSWOW64 FOLDER MUST BE REPLACED FROM THE 32 BIT FILES THAT I HAVE INCLUDED TO MY Macos X for Windows 7 - 32bit [link] FROM FOLDER '32 bit Dll files'
So 64bit users must download also my 32bit version of the theme.
THE REST SYSTEM FILES, in C:\Windows\System32 and in C:\Windows MUST REPLACED FROM THE FILES INCLUDED TO THIS PACK FROM FOLDER '64 bit Dll files'.

Mac OS X style system behaviour with not 3rd party program .

Macos X is a Mac OS X port for WIndows 7, made by idas = ZEUS osX. (Pavlos Pitselas).

Macos X for windows 7 is MADE IN GREECE (= Hellas).

Macos (1)word meaning : 'mecos'= length in ancient Athenian also Ionian language and in Byzantine and in nowdays Greek, and 'macos' in doric and aeolian ancient greek dialects and in nowdays tsaconian= spartan dialect that still speaken in some villages in southeastern Pelloponese[south Greece], where is my hometown, and also in Ancient Greek Macedonian and Aeolian Thessalian dialects.
On screenshot , down window there exist some of a portrait of Alexander the Great(=Alexandros) who unified all Hellenes=Greeks ie (Peloponisians , Thessalians , Macedonians, Athenians, Cretans etc ].

IN ancient and in nowdays Hellenic (=Greek) [Active CODE] language, every letter, and every word is a specific number, and it has a specific meaning.
ZEUS ( or DEUS or DIAS) is Master of immortal Gods in Hellenic (=Greek) Active CODE [arithmetic machine logic] language, and APPLE is the given gift from ZEUS .

So the name of the THEME choosen from Hellenic = GREEK language and civilization.

-------------------------------

Macos X IS not just a theme. With new code added to Windows system files , Windows becomes behaving like Mac OS X .

When forinstance we select a folder as 'icon', we have separate mouse over image for the folder and other image for the text.

When we select a folder as 'details' we can have stripes, and mouse over images like mac os X , blue hover and white text .

Main categories of visual styles: Transparent, Brushed, Gray.

Names and styles of Themes:
Dion,- 4 versions ---> transparent
Alexander, - 4 --> brushed
Leopard - 4 --> gray

in each style that has number I (FOR EXAMPLE : 24 Dion I ) --> no visible folderband, and no addressbar image, and a designed button at the corner of titlebar.

in each style that has number II (FOR EXAMPLE : 24 Dion II ) --> no visible folderband, BUT with addressbar image, and NO designed button at the corner of titlebar.

in each style that has number III (FOR EXAMPLE : 24 Dion III) --> Visible folderband, and with addressbar image in eand NO designed button at the corner of titlebar.

each style that has number IIII (FOR EXAMPLE : 24 Dion IIII ) --> no visible folderband, and no addressbar image, BUT IT HAS some pseudo buttons in the place of addressbar so to look like MAC Finder, though its only design, without fuctionality as also the designed button at the corner of titlebar.

Also i use The Ave's application [still beta] , CloseButtonChanger which makes the close, max, min buttons more close.

My work is based on the spirit of os X, and not a copy of it.

Many images are designed in a similar but not same way with original os X.

I use font bold style in many places that original os X use regular font style.

I made this project to work only to 96 dpi font size.

For this project i have spent thousands of hours, and perchaps it is first time in the history of Windows, that without any 3rd party programm or explorer replacement, we have a so much close to mac os X style approaching.

The theme will have some limitations in use, as i have not enough time to complete in the way i want, as i am too tired.
--------

MAIN LIMITATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF USING

1. Be sure that in Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display the Smaller - 100% categorie is checked . if there is not, check Smaller - 100% and restart.
Also do not change font size (leave it 96 dpi font size).

2. do not change border padings.

3. in the new themes there is no any taskbar problem.

4. for close distance between close, min, max buttons Ave's application [still beta] , CloseButtonChanger needed.

5. for adding shadows effect around your Windows, needed the freeware controlable application YzShadow.

so i did everything you said (applied nature theme, restarted, applied one of your themes, and i had the same problem). then i checked the theme folders to see if they had copied to c:\windows\resources\themes, and they were all there. i uninstalled uxcore application, then restarted, then reinstalled it. i then selected one of your themes, and i still had the problem.

i downloaded APPOLON themes, but when i extracted it, an error message came up saying the path is too long.

try one time more to restart and apply one of my themes.
from what you describe to me the problem to your system is that non microsoft themes cant applied.
[i suppose you have used the x64 version of uxstylecore], so the only i can think is if a new microsoft update make the problem.

After rebooting your PC, you should check if the service β€œUnisgned Themes” is started. To do that follow a few instructions:
1. Click on Start
2. Enter services.msc into the search field
3. Enter β€œU” and look for the service β€œUnsigned Themes”
4. Double-click it and click on β€œStart”
5. If it could not find the specified file, you should download ... for more details see this ---> Method 2: Background Service UXStyle Core [link]

[there is another method but i dont like to use it as 1. your problem has nothing to do with it 2. ihave not tested so i dont say to do it, but i would do it for myself if no solution in web worked for me---> so that i would do is first go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify. restart.then copy the original aero theme to a safe folder as a backup. then i would goto Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization and select clasic theme then restart.
i go first to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero and i take Obtain Permisions and Ownership of Aero visual style, then i go to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero\Shell\NormalColor and i take Obtain Permisions and Ownership of shellstyle.dll
then i download one of my themes to the desktop.
there are 2 folders of each one which is the theme and the other which when we open there exist some subfolders , one with the name of the visual style, another named en-US another named Shell etc so to this second folder i rename the name of my visual style to aero. then i copy this named aero theme to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero . then i would go again to the desktop open the folder of my theme that is named shell, then i open the folder normal color and then i copy the folder shellstyle.dll to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero\Shell\NormalColor [remember that u have saved your original theme aero to a safe folder of your hard disk first]then select aero theme. this is not best method and you have always to set first clasic theme. and then to replace visual style and shellstyle.dll. this is very slow method for very difficult cases.----- but this is an ultimate and not best method.

Hey!

I've a question, how can I get the whole theme back to normal??
I wanted to do so, the only problem were the images and icons. for example, the Start button "Apple" icon stayed, as well as the finder one.

Please, tell me what to do! D:

very ease.
go to all system files you have changed and rename the new ones to .bak , and those you have renamed before to .dll

forexample : go to C:\Windows\System32 and lets say we want to change the shell32.dll system file ok? there exist 2 files : one with the name shell32.dll and another which was the original of our system and which we have renamed to shell32.old, ok? now we rename the shell32.dll to shell32.bak and the shell32.old to shell32.dll ok? do that for all files ie shell32.dll, ExplorerFrame.dll & imageres.dll.
for the explorer.exe just rename it to explorer.bak a the explorer.old to explorer.exe
do also the same procedure to your c:\windows\syswow64 system files .

its very ease, after all restart [becarefull when renaming so to rename the files correct.

just please before doing anything when you rename explorer system file, please see how its named to your computer's system , explorer or explorer.exe?
because i have 32 bit system, and its named explorer. so if i would like to set the original microsoft system file i just have to rename the explorer to explorer.bak and the explorer.old just to explorer.
but if to a 64bit system the file its named as explorer.exe then you have to rename the explorer.old to explorer.exe
ok?

Hey, first of all I really like the pictures,

BUUUTTT I can't enjoy it,

It keeps nagging that the ExplorerFrame.dll is missing but it's impossible, cause I 6 times checked, More and copied them over and over and over and over again, And keep rebooting, and it keeps saying it, so I can't do any thing with my PC cause my Explorer can't start, I did everything in the readme and instructions, I swear I did, but I can't get it to work when I Ctrl+Alt+Del for taskmanager and try to start a new task: Explorer, and then I see the icons of folders and stuff is changed, the sounds are changed, the logon screen wallpaper is changed everything is good but I still can't open my frigging Explorer WHAT CAN I DO *Cries Out Loud*

Greetings:

ZEUSosX In reply to ThirstyThursten [2010-10-19 23:10:26 +0000 UTC]

it had hapopened to me on past this so i know what was happened, at least i know what i have made wrong so now i will explain what in my case was wrong:

when we do this ---> before replacing files go to Control pane [view by category] -->so Go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify. restart

all this is very important to be. also its very important to RESTART.

SO, on past i have done all this but i have done a mistake : what was is this: i have tried before setting the slider to the next window Never Notify, to change my system files [or before restart]. THAT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. Even if we restart after and then we are trying to replace the files, then we will see this WRONG haPPENED:

WE renAME the original system files to forexample explorer to explorer.old but when we copy paste the new file we think that the file was copied and exist BUT WAIT: do you find it? do you see the new file ? is it there? so propably not, the system rejected. why ? because mainly of 2 reasons : or we have not taken permission of one of our system files or we have tried before set the slider to ' Never Notify' , to replace the files, so when we restarted we could nt done as i described u or you have setted the slider and before restart you have [the first time] to replace the files.
then its posible to try to restart but the windows 7 code REACTS if the steps that we do is not as exactly described in instructions.

Now i will say to you what i have done : because i have seen that my new files could not be copied to my system, i did this: i check if i had taken well the permissions of my original system files, then i rename my old system files with their original names ok? i restarted and my system worked ok.
then again go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window to Default , then restart. is everything ok, then i restart again 2 or 3 times, then i again go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window to Never Notify, i restasrted 2 or 3 times, ok?

then i tried to rename again my original system files, and then i copy paste my new ones. every time you copy paste a new file you MUST be ure that this file exists to the folder that should be, for example your shell32.dll must be inside your C:\Windows\System32 so there must be 2 files the old renamed to shell32.old and the new shell32.dll, if the new missed you will have problem. (also as i told you a posiible reason of your problem could be also if in one of the original system files has not taken all or none permission)

So the problem becomes because of the kind of the windows 7 system reacts when we trying to put new files to it/
if we have not done the steps as described in instructions, even if we after we are going to follow this steps in the right waY that does not mean that the system will Accept this changing. That makes the problem.

so follow what i have described you here and i hope you will succeed.[even me, because i do many times format for security and other reasons, sometimes if i am not concentrating and because i am too sure , i do mistakes, so dont acusee your self , just try to follow carefully the steps of instructios AS IS.]

ZEUSosX In reply to ZEUSosX [2010-10-19 23:26:11 +0000 UTC]

SO FIRST STEP via task manager , if you have access as you say, rename the ExplorerFrame.old to ExplorerFrame.dll and then follow what i have written, restart 2 or 3 times set the slider to default , restart 2 or 3 times set the slider to never notify, restart 2 times at least. then check if to your original exploreframe you have taken all the permissions well. [do also this to the same named file but which is a 32 bit one and exists to c:\windows\syswow64 folder.]
so if you have taken well the permissions, before do anythinf restart then after log in, rename the ExplorerFrame.dll which is in the C:\Windows\System32 to ExplorerFrame.old and then copy paste the new one from this 64bit version pack .
then do the same to ExplorerFrame.dll which is in the c:\windows\syswow64 folder to ExplorerFrame.old and then copy paste the new one from the 32bit version pack. ok?
i hope after restart everything will work ok.

hey man, this is just an awesome thing.

everything worked fine for me.

theres only one "mistake" on my system. maybe youΒ΄ve heared about before.

as you can see in this screen: [link]

when you cross the line with the cursor, the whole arrangement of icons and folders began to stutter.

i tried some of the other viewing options, but none of them fixed the problem.

any idea?

thx for your great work

ZEUSosX In reply to greenery-arts [2010-10-13 19:32:13 +0000 UTC]

yes i understood what do you mean. this is how to open the folderband:

in vista and in windows 7 we have hidden the folderband, the toolbar which is written 'Organise', 'System Properties' etc.
for the users need this toolbar alwayw opened i have made themes/visual styles like the 24 Dion III [all the named with III AT the end have opened folderband.]
all the other themes opened setting the mouse between the adressbar and the main white area of the window. the problem is that on vista this worked smooth but in windows 7 as the code has changed if you touch with the mouse the area goes up and down, 'it flickers', so what we have to do is just gently you touch with your mouse, Then folderband opens. Do not moove your mouse. Press right clik and dont leave your finger from the right button of the mouse. then drag your mouse with pressed the right button to the command button of the folderband that you want. Then without leaving the pressed right button of the mouse, you pressed the left button of the mouse once, then rapidly you leave the right button of the mouse, and press again the the left button of the mouse, and THATS IT.

For understand this better just see this which i explain how Auto-hide Folderband of win 7 [link] [read carefully the SOLUTION FOR WINDOWS EXPLORER and downwards text]

this is a behaviour from windows 7 code.
just for known it. in anycase as i told you use the themes with III as the 24 Dion III in which folderband is always opened.
[also use my latest updated visual styles, incase you didn't , APPOLON THEMES for windows 7 [link] ]

first try to do this, aply microsoft aero theme restart , log in and aply the theme you preffer. that i do and works, as last weeks microsft updates makes more often this problem.

Now, IF THE THEME, remains in clasic microsoft style, then because of microsoft updates, its possible those making the uxcore stop working.[now becarefull you MUST not reinstall.if you do its possible the problem remained.]
So, go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features amd UNINSTALL first the uxcore application, then restart.now INSTALL uxcore application, then restart.
also perchaps of specific microsoft updates needed sometimes to replace again following my instructions shell32.dll system file.

i hope that some of this works for you.

now about the taskbar i have written the solution in the instructions of this page. the problem is because of microsoft's code, [it makes this problem with images with less than 24 pixel height , osx has 22 pixels height] in instruction text i give 2 solutions, so you have to read them.
but its better to use my latest updated visual styles/themes which have bigger than original 22 pixels height osx small icons taskbar but which work perfect to windows 7 code, no problem with the taskbar when log in, so download my APPOLON-THEMES : [link]

remember my themes as i writte in instructions in MAIN LIMITATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF USING
1. do not change border padings.
2. do not change font size (leave it 96 dpi font size). etc etc
so go to Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display and be sure that option 'Normal - 100% ' is selected.

no, it is the details pane in black style like coverflow style picture of osx.
but as i see you dont have replaced the system files of your system with those included in the pack, so you will not have stripes etc and also the looking that should have your system.
my 'theme' is not like anything else you have seen, anywhere, that means not the look but your windows7 system after you replace the system dll files, will work similar [not same but similar ] to mac osx!
but be VERY VERY carefull with the instructions, so read them plesase --> i will writte you some things also here , but read the instructions text of the theme vry carefully.

[replacing the system dll files does not mean delete them, we rename the original system files and we copy paste the new ones i give you]
so-->
1.before replacing files go to Control pane [view by category] -->so Go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify. restart.
have you done this, and restart?

2. then a. Obtain Permisions and Ownership of ExplorerFrame.dll, imageres.dll, shell32.dll that located in C:\Windows\System32 and and do also the same for explorer that located in C:\Windows\ . (use the "Obtaining Permissions and ownership.txt" for help on installing) , and also do the same to the same files to c:\windows\syswow64 , you need to edit the same files in both folders system32 and syswow64 folder as in x64 version there is doubles of all files.

[ example of taking ownership to a random system file
[link] internet explorer compatible]

b. Backup you original ExplorerFrame.dll, imageres.dll, shell32.dll and explorer by renaming them to ExplorerFrame.old, imageres.old, shell32.old and explorer.old

c. Copy ExplorerFrame.dll, imageres.dll, shell32.dll from this pack to C:\Windows\System32 and and explorer to C:\Windows .
[for the Alexandros and Dion Themes copy the ExplorerFrame.dll from the '1. buttons light blue HOVER ' folder, for the leopard copy the ExplorerFrame.dll from the '2. buttons gray HOVER' folder, of this pack,

and NOW please Download my 32 BIT version from [link] , open the foler '32 bit Dll files', copy and replace the files that existed to c:\windows\syswow64

d. Restart to see the changes.
----------

now as i see there is a white line down of the adressbar, see [link] now i will show you how to eliminate, left clik to your window, press F10 to your keyboard, right clik to the menu that appears then select 'lock the toolbars'. [link]

use my latest visual styles themes from [link] and your system will look like [link] [in screenshot is the 24 LEOPARD I].

perchaps you dont know how to open the command bar folderband when autohiding [link] so use for now themes like the 24 Dion III which has always open the folderband , so if you wand to close the details pane select organise, layout deselect 'Details pane' [link]

Hi, everytime i login in my computer the old windows 98 theme is back, i tried to change it but it doesn't work, this happens very often , sometimes with a restart it fixes , but sometimes don't.... how can i fix this?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ZEUSosX In reply to CristhianSerrano [2010-10-06 07:40:28 +0000 UTC]

ITS propably from microsoft's updated code. sometimes happened to my system this month, as i do some experiments, what i do is this: i select [microsoft's] aero, i restart, log in, then i choose the theme i want and it works. though this behaviour has to do with the fact that we use no microsoft's themes to windows system. i have not test if other than uxcore utilities or programs that enable non microsoft themes enabling working to windows 7 working or having the same problem.
so if you dont change very often themes then you will not have problem, but this is no solution. as i make experiments for myself and change all the time this thing is annoying.
--------

[BUT IF THE THEME, remains in clasic microsoft style, then because of microsoft updates its possible making the uxcore utility [the small application that enables your system using 3rd party visual styles/themes , like mines] stop working.[now becarefull you have not reinstall.if you do its possible the problem remained.
So, go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features amd UNINSTALL first the uxcore application, then restart.now INSTALL uxcore application, then restart.
also perchaps of specific microsoft updates needed sometimes to replace again following my instructions shell32.dll system file.]

because or you have not replaced the explorer system file, or because a microsoft update replace the specific, explorer.exe system files. [usually microsoft updates replace shell32.dll but sometimes also explorer etc]

so what you have to do is :
1.before replacing files go to Control pane [view by category] -->so Go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify. restart.
2. then a. Obtain Permisions and Ownership of explorer.exe that located in C:\Windows\ . b. Backup you original explorer [forexample to a safe folder named 'original 64 bit system files']

c. Copy explorer to C:\Windows .

and NOW please Download my 32 BIT version Macos X for Windows 7 - 32bit from [link] , open the foler '32 bit Dll files', copy and replace explorer that existed to c:\windows\syswow64 and do the same, back up the original , then replace= rename that existed to c:\windows\syswow64 and copy paste the new from the Macos X for Windows 7 - 32bit.

d. Restart to see the changes.

this problem is described in my number 4 Tips text in this page :
........
-4. The windows 7 system behaviour to 22 pixel (small icon) taskbar is unbelieveable not applicable!
That means that everytime you log in to your system, taskbar becomes bigger[than 22pixels], and you have manually do this:
right clik to taskbar, select Properties, Uncheck Use small icons, Resize your taskbar as possible small, then check Use small icons and that s it.
To my system[32 bit win 7 rtm] I do this, i set first small icons taskbar size on top of desktop, after i set before shut down, or log off etc the taskbar to the bottom , when i log in i set the taskbar to the top and works ok.
[ if you select instead of shutdown, 'sleep' or 'hybernate', the taskbar remains as is, no need to set it down]

then i give another solution for this, which i described, but the best for all users is using my my latest updated visual styles/themes which have bigger than original 22 pixels height osx small icons taskbar but which work perfect to windows 7 code, no problem with the taskbar when log in, so download my APPOLON-THEMES : [link]

what you need is to follow the instructions carefully AS IS, as they have done many thousands users.

the problems to your position is this:
1.before replacing files go to Control pane [view by category] -->so Go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify. restart.
have you done this, and restart?

----------
if you have done those 2 steps ok, no problem becomes.
if you have forget to do the first one, or if in some, or one of the original system files you have not taken Obtain Permisions and Ownership, then its possible that you should reinstall your system. but thats your false not mine.[because i usually reformat my system, because of security reasons, sometimes because i do all this quiqly, i also do mistake and need to reinstall it, though the false is mine because of not done something of the 2 reasons i described you, so do everything carefully and follow the instructions AS IS.]

ZEUSosX In reply to willgame4food [2010-09-08 21:18:03 +0000 UTC]

the problem as i think to your replacement of system files is this [and written to instructions of this page, also]:
.........
before replacing files go to Control pane [view by category] -->so Go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window Never Notify. restart.
do all your changes in code that u want as described in instructions.

take Obtain Permisions and Ownership of ExplorerFrame.dll, imageres.dll, shell32.dll that located in C:\Windows\System32 and and do also the same for explorer that located in C:\Windows\ . (use the "Obtaining Permissions and ownership.txt" for help on installing) , and also do the same to the same files to c:\windows\syswow64 , you need to edit the same files in both folders system32 and syswow64 folder as in x64 version there is doubles of all files.

When you have finished everything go again go to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts and press the folder 'Change User Account Control Settings' set the slider to the next window to Default or to whatever u like, then restart.

so ----> follow very carefully the instructions AS IS. IT IS ALL written there.
when we say replace we do not mean delete. we rename those files, and we copy paste the new ones.
also becarefull to the Obtain Permisions and Ownership of the original ExplorerFrame.dll, imageres.dll, shell32.dll as described in instructions.

willgame4food In reply to ZEUSosX [2010-09-09 01:01:28 +0000 UTC]

actually, i did follow the instructions before(i already took ownership and all that, and i always keep UAC turned off. the issue isn't permission, its that soe of them say i cant delete/rename/replace them cause they are "in use" but a program. i close that program, and another comes up as using it. then i get to where it says explorer.exe is using it, and thats kinda a dead end, seeing as you have to be running explorer.exe to get to the files in the first place.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ZEUSosX In reply to willgame4food [2010-09-09 17:52:54 +0000 UTC]

you must not delete any of them !!!!!!
you must just rename them . just that . is that possible? then copy , paste the new one.
becarefull if you copy/paste a new system file, but you dont see it to the folder then there is a problem.
what i mean is this: lets say you want to replace shell32.dll ok?
your UAC turned off, you have taken permission of the original shell32.dll , then you rename it to shell32.old and then you copy / paste the shell32.dll that you have download from me.
you have to see that this new file exist to C:\Windows\System32 folder.
i writte this because sometimes windows 7 system reacts and dont leave the new file to be copy.
why? because it is possible that before you set uac off trying to delete the original file, or some of the permission of the system files is not completed, so be carefull.
i dont say that this will happen to you, just because of my experience.[if you have any problem such this, just rename the original system file again from shell32.old to shell32.dll so your pc to work. do some restarts, perchaps leave 1 or 2 days, set uac off and on some times, and i hope after some restarts again it will work. perchaps your problem, is not so much complicated, as i described, but because i have seen, as i have reformated my pc for security reasons many times, so i have to replace many times system files, as i also i made many experiments and i had to replace many times in a day, so i have seen many strange windows behaviour to this section].

That's not normal.
my files do not affect to make computer slower.
what it is possible happened to your pc to this section is perchaps because when we change system files, some of the original properties of the system that the manufacturer of your pc has put, they have changed.
so , go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting ----> go to Appearance and Personalization and follow the process.
so see in that window [Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting] if there is anything that can help u.

its not normal also when ever you try to turn your system back to normal, it keeps shutting down. [i suppose with 'back to normal' you mean back to the restore point you have made. have you antivirus? i use microsoft essentials this season, if you have not antivirus, download from microsoft , microsoft essentials (its free), and then scan your system, as if something stops you to go back --> to a previous restore point that's not normal].

i am in vacations, i haven't much time to answer further, though if anyone follows my instructions as is, has not problems to the pc.

shell32.dll --> rename it to shell32.bak1, then rename shell32.old to shell32.dll ,imageres.dll --> rename it to mageres.bak1, then rename mageres.old to imageres.dll . ]

(remember that in 64 there 2 files u must replace:
the 64 bit explorer.exe (explorer) from this download to C:\Windows following the instructions[as the other 64 bit system files exist to C:\Windows\System32 but not 64 bit explorer], and the 32 bit explorer.exe (explorer) to c:\windows\syswow64 . i hope it helps you some, those also written to my instructions).
