Description How to install Blender2PMD: [link]

Please note that this tutorial WILL NOT:
*Teach you Blender
*Make finished, ready to dance, fully boned models

If you can't do any of this yourself, I strongly suggest just waiting until someone else does it for you. There are several experienced modelers and converters uploading them every day.

PART TWO: [link]

All of these are completely free and are what I personally use!:

Sorry about that, but that's not what the tutorial was about...
I know most people are only installing it so they can give this a try, but it really assumes you already have that part set up.
...It doesn't say how to install Blender or anything either is what I'm getting at...

Oh no I have blender, I was just wondering if there was a specific one I needed. Anyway I figured out I could just change it to an x. file and then import it to PMD editor and save it as a pmd file :3
Just onto bone learning now >w< Thank you

By using boning and rigging tutorials like these:

Also try searching 'pmd bone tutorial' here on DA for many to choose from! ^__^

iCan't export! ._. Everytime I try to Export it as a PMD it tells me ImportError: No Module named xml.dom.minidom!
I can't find a download for it...or whatever I dunno what to do! ;-; Help?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to Hana-Chana [2011-11-14 21:09:59 +0000 UTC]

Weird... That's a new one alright. I'll do my best to get you all fixed up tho!
Apparently it's a scripting error, tho I wouldn't touch any of that unless you really knew what you were doing (I certainly won't tread near it). SO, we'll just have to do some doublechecks...

1-Since you got this far, I'm assuming Blender works fine otherwise and that Blender2PMD is installed, YES? Correct version of Python for it and everything...? >.>
2-I forgot to update the links in the desc AGAIN, but you *may* also need the Japanese plugins: [link] MAY, because they aren't really necessary, but Blender is finicky sometimes without them. Just unzip and dump in Blender->plugins
3-This one might be obvious, but juuust in case, you DID hit Export and not Import, correct?

I'm still looking into that xml junk, but try adding those plugins and see if that fixes it. : /

Hana-Chana In reply to JerisEnigma [2011-11-19 00:34:03 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree with you, I don't know a thing about scripting :3

1. Yes, Blender is fine except the Blender2PMD

2. That explains alot, let me try that.

3. Yuuus I did.

THANKS I dont get it anymore. But I do get another error ._. Oh joy.... It says object has no attribute 'PMDHEADER'

Glad to here the rest it fixed tho~

Can You convert these models for meh?

JerisEnigma In reply to Classic-Sonic [2011-10-24 03:06:23 +0000 UTC]

Uhm, actually... no. First off, I made this tut so people could convert things for themselves, and secondly, many people have already converted AND rigged Sonic models for MMD, so it'd be a pretty big waste of time.

Search here on DA for 'mmd sonic amy' or 'mmd sonic tails' and you'll find LOTS of them!
...Sorry if that came off somewhat harsh, but ah... I am kind of stating the obvious here.

Hello, I recently have downloaded blender and I was intrigued at the things blender users make. So my ver is 2.59. I have the plugins and all. As I open the bender folder i noticed it says 2.59 ''the folder'', when I open it there are two folders named ''python and script''. In one of the comments here I guess it said just place the plugins inside python or so. I open python folder and theres another folder that says ''lib'' I open that one and it lead me to alot of folders.
and I would like some help on how to fix my situation. If however not then its fine.

JerisEnigma In reply to AwesomePal [2011-09-26 08:36:45 +0000 UTC]

I'd love to help you, but unfortunately I wasn't able to get any of this to install properly in anything but version 2.49b... I haven't tried it in any older versions, but 2.56 completely ignored the plugins and I haven't used anything newer than that.

I can walk you through installing it in 2.49b, but for any other version there's not much I can do. :/

Oh haha, it's really no problem~
Not like I'm doing anything important anyway! :3
For starters, I'll just tell you what I told everyone else and if you need to know anything after that, let me know!
(going to bed in a sec tho, so I'll have to get back to you tomorrow)

[Copy-pasted solution to answer everyone's problems]

Okay, first off I've put all the files you'll need on my Mediafire here: [[link] to be sure they work and are correct.
Download, unzip and put them in your Blender's 'plugins' folder.
Not the 'scripts' folder like I told some of you, but it won't hurt anything if they're there or you have multiples.

Thanks to my good best buddy Google, the final crucial step I'd forgotten:
Now to set blender to Japanese~ (Skip if you already know how)
1.Go to the top panel (It's the one with 'file', 'add', etc., etc.) and pull it down and expose the 'settings panel'.
2. You should see 'view and controls' go to 'language&fonts', [in mine you had to click 'International' here] click on the 'language: english' buttons and select japanese.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to V--R [2011-09-12 19:10:53 +0000 UTC]

You should have a plugins folder somewhere around Blender 2.(whatver version you have)-> Blender (again)-> plugins, scripts, etc

Find that folder and dump em in it~

Put it in Blender -> Plugins. The same place as '.blender' and 'python26'.

Okay, first off I've put all the files you'll need on my Mediafire here: [link] to be sure they work and are correct.

I'm sorry but... I can't find language and fonts anywhere. If I put down the panel anything appears and even under "user preferences" there is no language option.....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to SumireHaiku [2011-09-01 01:36:04 +0000 UTC]

Your menu should look something like this: [link]

I didn't even click anything, just dragged it down. It should be on the same line as 'view and controls' etc...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SumireHaiku In reply to JerisEnigma [2011-09-01 08:23:33 +0000 UTC]

No it looks totally different.. wich version is it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to SumireHaiku [2011-09-01 20:06:48 +0000 UTC]

2.49b

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SumireHaiku In reply to JerisEnigma [2011-09-01 23:08:32 +0000 UTC]

Ok.. I installed version 2.49 and I finally have the same panel. The problem is, after I set language to Japanese and then close the program, if I run it again the language is still on English... and of course I can't export any pmd 'cause the option doesn't appear in the menu..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to SumireHaiku [2011-09-02 03:02:16 +0000 UTC]

Do you have the japanese plugins installed that I linked to? If not, here they are: [link]

I'm not sure if you HAVE to have those since the language is already on your blender, but you do need it for the export to work usually, so I'd make sure they're in there. Just dump 'em in your plugins folder.

Those are the ones straight out of mine so I know they work. That stupid language setting reverts on mine too, but it still exports so...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SumireHaiku In reply to JerisEnigma [2011-09-02 08:51:41 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I put everything in my Plugins folder in Blender Foundation... but still no pmd option under Export.........

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

JerisEnigma In reply to SumireHaiku [2011-09-04 01:55:41 +0000 UTC]

Well I've reverted to the older 2.49b again and after pasting the blender2pmd files in the plugins folder on the top blender folder, another plugins folder in the .blender folder AND loose on their own on the same level as the second plugins folder, I finally got the pmd option to show up again. Apparently you only need to worry about the language option for IMPORTING pmds, if you only want to export them then you can ignore it. Never got it to work in version 2.5 for some reason, but if you're still motivated to use this after all the hassle it's given you, I'd recommend just pasting it everywhere and restarting blender to check for changes...

JerisEnigma In reply to SumireHaiku [2011-09-03 21:48:11 +0000 UTC]

Bummer... I don't know why it's being so difficult for you, it was so easy to install for me before. >.<
Maybe, and I hate to say this, try Googling around and see if you can't find something else to help you out. I feel like I *must* still be missing something here.

But I just got a new computer and decided to put the newest Blender on it, just for the hell of it... And I can't get it installed there either. Can't even find the Language options because the layout is totally different. T__T

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SumireHaiku In reply to JerisEnigma [2011-09-04 08:23:38 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I had the latest version, that's why my layout looked so different and I couldn't find the language options. By the way yes, I just want to EXPORT pmd... I googled already and it seemed a lot of people have this problem.. but still I couldn't find the solution. Everyone talked about the language change, like you said. Thank you very much for your help.. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have a Plugins folder into Blender Foundation and I put pmd plugs in there.. but under File-Export.. no pmd option T__T I guess I have to give up...

Hi, I know you get this a lot, but Blender2PMD is not working for me. I downloaded it and copied all the files into both script, script->addons, python, and a bunch of other places, but when I click export, pmd is still not showing up. I've read your answers to everyone else's problems, but none are helping me. Is there something I'm missing or doing wrong?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JerisEnigma In reply to CityOfSpades [2011-08-08 05:39:52 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure, but like you probably already read, I'm still away from home so I can't check my Blender to see what I may have done to make it work.

The best I can say atm is try Google or wait a few more days until I get home. As soon as I'm back on my computer and have working internet again (just moved so... myeh T_T) then I'll do my best to get all of you set up properly.
