This tutorial is awsome!!! but I have a question....how is it that you are able to make your lineart show up on the white layer when you are checking your progress....when I tried it...heh all you could see is white and I had to make that layer "multiply"

You have to arrange the layers correctly.

Nice tutorial.. >.< I can't ink in real life or with my tablet.. though this tutorial is only really possible in Photoshop CS because that's when it got updated with the smooth brushes and what not.. If people don't have this program (PS before this doesn't really work.. can't get clean straight lines with the brush), u can always refer them to Open Canvas for inking because it has very nice pen/brush tools...

Ah, thank you! I also realized that, but still other people think otherwise, so I'm going to stay on the safe side...

Wow, extremely helpful. Thanks. Just curious, how long does it usually take you to make these linearts in PS?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

twisted666 In reply to Archercaptain [2005-11-18 20:55:47 +0000 UTC]

That depends -- usually 30 minutes minimum, for a full-body picture. The most is 1 hour, that is, if I don't go back to edit major stuff...

This Lineart Tutorial Kicks ARSE!! It's really helpfull!! it's been helping me with one of my pics that I am doing right now.

Thanks!!!!!!!

I just have one question, what if you want to just do it black and blues and pretty much color it that way... do you know what I mean?... how exactly do you do that? do you do it with this method? does that make sense?

twisted666 In reply to EntityBlithe [2005-10-30 06:14:07 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I don't understand your question. Try again?

lol!

Ok. I drew Heero from Gundam Wing and I am inking it..or more like done inking it lol. But I have really nice details in it, and I love the shade of blue I used for the saturation colorizaton part. The thing is I want to do it in blue where it's a mix of black and blue instead of then moving on to coloring the lineart...(I am going to color it eventually since I am going to save twice).

Basically, I want it to be lineartish..but colored with blues too...does that make sense?

I want to do it kinda of like that awesome piece you have of the comic in your gallery that's in blues, grays, and blacks.

twisted666 In reply to EntityBlithe [2005-10-30 06:40:19 +0000 UTC]

Ah, just go to Image >> Adjustments >> Hue / Saturation >> Check colorize option >> toggle with Hue / Saturation.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EntityBlithe In reply to twisted666 [2005-10-30 07:52:28 +0000 UTC]

But I did that when I begun the inking.

Do I do that if I want the specified color?

twisted666 In reply to EntityBlithe [2005-10-30 09:28:11 +0000 UTC]

Try inking first before you colorize.

Yes, you can.

EntityBlithe In reply to twisted666 [2005-10-30 18:37:03 +0000 UTC]

Ok.

This it all inked but I haven't merged layers and made the white layer visible.
